Alec Baldwin is offering to end his impersonation of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live if the president-elect releases his tax returns.
The actors tweet came early Sunday in response to one from Trump, who said Baldwins impersonation just cant get any worse

(14,853 posts)The only part of those skits that I don't like is how Kellyanne is portrayed as regretting her role to get him elected. I don't think there's evidence to support it. Or maybe I've just missed her acting that way in real life?

(70,088 posts)it's so real, you are expecting it to be fact based. no, there are no facts, but i think many here wonder what she is thinking, and whether she regrets her role. it is fun to conjecture.
i love the way they look at the camera and assure you some things ARE true.
and maybe this will sort of atone for the fact that they did have a little bit of a part in bill clinton's near demise. them and jay leno, imho.
long live saturday night live. we need them.

(14,853 posts)If they exaggerate the behavior, I'm fine with it.
And I still loved the skit overall! It's not like it made me upset that Kellyanne is portrayed as being remorseful about it -- I HOPE she really feels that way!

(2,531 posts)There is no requirement for him to hand them over; he was under audit and said he would when the audit was over.
He is not even accepting pay for being President.
Aside from SNL, which has humor that either floats your boat or it doesn't (I USED to think it was a good show, "in the beginning" , so when is the constant barfing and puking at the new President going to end? Ever?
Humor mocking any public figure is funny if it's funny, i.e., Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin without having to change a word of what she said (now, THAT was FUNNY!).
I think the sickness this forum is feeling is being fed and nurtured and seeking no end nor resolution.
I understand not wanting to let go until the recount is over, even though I think it is futile and looks really bad on the Democratic Party. But, when that's over and the miracle doesn't happen, will anything change then? The misery being spewed at the new President is rolling off him like water off a duck's back, and yet many will continue to wallow in the misery and negativity and act like this is the end of the USA. It may well be the end of the USA as we have known it, and certainly an end to the direction we were going in, which was not a good one.

(3,528 posts)Seriously? You're not joking? Don the Con has spent the last few weeks calling up foreign leaders and setting up business deals! He doesn't need no stinkin' presidential pay check; he's setting himself up to reap BILLIONS off this new con!
And you're actually falling for this "look at me, turning down 400k a year to be your wonderful president" schtick? I'm sure he netted 10X that amount through his influence peddling phone calls just since the election.
If he has his way he will leave the White House in 4 years vastly richer then when he arrived.
...and you wonder why people want to see his tax returns?
(On edit: he SAYS he won't accept pay, but he lies about everything. It's his nature. I'd give 50/50 odds he will renege on that pledge.)

(20,135 posts)The reason the president has a salary is because otherwise only the rich could afford to serve. A person of modest means could not afford to take off four or eight takes with no income.
If a precedent is set of declining pay, then the next president who isn't rich will be "expected" to not take the pay either and will be attacked for doing so.

(37,158 posts)...putting an estimated 1.5-3 million in his pocket every year. Compared to that, the $400K presidential salary is a PR write-off.
