Reagan kept up the facade for eight years. And Reagan was not nearly the con man trump is.

First, it suggests that people track over time, which apparently they don't.

And it suggests that when really bad things happen, people blame the previously-beloved leader. The 9/11 debacle made GWB into a national hero, against all evidence.

all he has to do is pull a series of increasingly outrageous stunts that fixate the media on him 100% all the time while his underlings pick up the fallout $$$$ for him as the media is still drooling over yesterday's (or last week's) stupid scandal. ez-pz.

anytime he wants to get a rise out of the media? pull one of his long-promised federal crackdowns on immigrants or abortion services. they'll freak out for a couple days on that alone. he'll use it as a fundraising opportunity.

if this stops working at any point, just allow or stage a terrorist attack in some Democratic-voting urban area and have the media demand we give him supreme war powers for life. works like a charm.

this is not going to be a challenge for Trump & co. it's going to be very difficult for us, though.
