Ivanka Trump to Meet with Al Gore on Climate Change as Trump Tweets Again


She may not have a formal policy role, but Ivanka Trump has her father’s ear — and now Mr. Gore has hers.

The Trump transition team announced on Monday that one of the president-elect’s closest advisers, his daughter, will meet with the man bearing the Inconvenient Truth on human-caused climate change.

Meantime, hundreds of scientists are telling Mr. Trump in a new letter that climate change is real and needs to be addressed.

“We urge you to decide if you want your Presidency to be defined by denial and disaster, or acceptance and action,” says the new letter, which will be sent on Tuesday and has already been signed by some 700 scientists and academics from related disciplines. The letter lists six steps the president elect can take to help protect the nation’s “economy, national security, and public health and safety.”

I think this meeting between Al Gore and Ivanka Trump is just a smoke screen to allow Donald Trump and his allies to put forward policies that are anti environment. There is no one on Trump's team that shares Al Gore's views concerning the environment. This meeting is all about making it seem that Donald Trump is a more reasonable person. People in the media will, for at least a few days, discuss this meeting and claim it shows Donald Trump really has an open mind about the environment. This is meant to make it seems that he is willing to listen to all sides of issues when, in reality, he has already made up his mind.
