From AARP

House leaders are readying their agenda for the next Congress, and they are already talking about dramatic changes to Medicare. I won't mince words: harmful benefit cuts are a real possibility.

We won't stand for it, now is the time to start making that crystal clear to our members of Congress. We've set a goal of 100,000 people speaking out right now – will you be one? Tell your representative that you won't stand for harmful cuts.

Tell your representative: Protect our Medicare Benefits

Medicare isn't just a line on a budget balance sheet – it's a lifeline for the tens of millions of Americans who rely on it to afford health care and make ends meet.

That's why I'm concerned to read that some in Congress are considering making dramatic changes to the program, including harmful benefit cuts that could overwhelm older Americans in communities across the country.

We’ve worked hard for our benefits, and it’s simply not right to cut them and take away what we’ve earned.

I am asking you to keep Medicare's promise to the American people, and oppose any bill which would cut Medicare benefits or put your benefits at greater risk.

Thank you.

protecting the benefits that seniors have been promised is not a partisan issue. Over 50 million Americans rely on Medicare, and in these uncertain times they need to know that it will be there for them when they need it. That's why we need you to speak out today: Tell the House to oppose ANY cuts to Medicare.

Thanks for making your voice heard at this important moment. It's going to take all of us speaking out to make sure Congress gets the message, so take a minute to share this with your friends and family too. I'm so glad to have you with us as we fight to protect the benefits so many are counting on.

Sincerely,

Fred Griesbach

1. Whenever possible, USE SNAIL MAIL...

...Emails are usually read (if at all) only by staffers. And if you snail mail, consider a postcard, which does not have to be screened for Anthrax and other contaminants.

And if you really want your Congressperson to see your letter, consider sending it REGISTERED.

Keep it clear and concise.

No foul language, no threats. No accusations.

4. The religious right was nowhere near as powerful as they claimed...

...but they were VOCAL! The religious right could be counted on to flurry out letters to Congress at the drop of a hat. They were dependable and prodigious, which far inflated their prominence and exaggerated their importance. All the Congresspeople saw were thousands upon thousands of letters from "constituents."

but the media covers them non-stop. They refuse to put rational clergy on to refute their incessant insanity.

Certified has to be signed for like registered, but doesn't require that every postal employee must sign off on it.

If you failed to vote or voted for Trump, you voted for this.

They count phone calls and they amplify the response based on that. Call anyone who is listed on the committees, and then call your own congress people in DC and in their local offices. Call more than once too.

Your boys have suckered you massively, and now are about to ream you royally. You have only yourselves to blame for allowing obvious flim-flam fascists to sucker you.
