The votes are not being counted. We are supposedly a super power and can't even count our votes? What are they doing? Using their fingers and toes and stopping when they get to twenty?

Voter suppression is horrendous and a major roadblock for minorities. Machines with no paper trail have been a boon to the republican controlled states, and even with paper trails we have no assurance that the votes are being properly counted. In fact, we can probably assume they are not. The only way republicans maintain control is by gerrymandering districts and controlling the vote. It is going to take a monumental effort to make our elections fair, and frankly I don't see how we can do it with everything under republican control.

I have so little hope these days. Sorry to dump on your thread, sheshe.

I'd not heard of TEVS before now:

From 2008:
UNIQUE TRANSPARENCY PROGRAM UNCOVERS PROBLEMS WITH VOTING SOFTWARE
. . . a California county uncovered a problem with its voting system software only because the county’s registrar of voters had decided to implement an innovative public auditing program.
https://www.wired.com/2008/12/unique-transpar/

DANGERS OF ELECTRONIC VOTING {Updated: 31 October 2016}
TEVS (the Transparent Election Verification System) = This simple system -- which can be used in any paper-ballot situation -- was devised by software engineer Mitch Trachtenberg on a grant from the federal Elections Assistance Commission and with the cooperation of Humboldt County (CA) election officials. It involves running a separate vote counting system in parallel with the official one. In each jurisdiction, after polls close, the ballots are run through an inexpensive off-the-shelf scanner under guidance of the TEVS software, which creates a digital image of each ballot. These are then processed by one or more independent organizations, using the TEVS software to put the ballot data into a public spreadsheet, from which anyone can calculate the election results.

OPEN SOURCE VOTING
Election Transparency Project

The TEVS system, developed in 2006, is the ONLY OPEN SOURCE, TRANSPARENT SYSTEM FOR COUNTING VOTES IN THE UNITED STATES. It is still in regular use in Humboldt County. Right now, it is being used as a recounting system to double-check of the vote-counting of the Hart InterCivic system in Humboldt County. The system of Hart InterCivic has been showing up well in that county, unlike the Diebold system which was used previously.

You know I love you. I am up and down like everyone else.

You know...the old machines, gerrymandering, voter suppression should be addressed when Dems have control. Yet when we get it we are to busy picking up the pieces that the Repubs left behind. The aftermath of 911. Two wars on a credit card left unpaid. An economy in a tailspin. Recession. Depression. Jobs hemorrhaging.

Then Dems get pissed, you did not do it fast enough. I think people need to take a few courses in civics. They need to know how the Government runs.

I don't know what else to say now brer. I am at a loss.
