8. Many of us multi-generational AAs

have had to warn newly-arrived and/or 1st generation immigrants from the continent of Africa, the Caribbean, or South America, about how things "are". Most cultures self-identify by ethnic group when they come here, but when it comes to how America views people, those of African descent are all lumped into one distorted stereotypical Mammy/Step 'in Fetchit" imagery based solely on their skin color. Any who might be Islamic and choose to wear non-Western clothing, are further targeted. This is why you'll see them find communities of "likes" to reside in and keep safe.

Some bigots may briefly stop in their tracks should they hear them speaking with an "accent", but then they'll shift to pile on more of their ridiculous grievances about that.

Basically, immigrants of color will have to get used to not only being undervalued, underestimated, and marginalized, but targeted, stalked, attacked, and often killed because of who they are.
