Going to be a little selfish here

I'm having trouble getting over this election. As each day goes by, instead of getting over my gloom, I seem to stay in it as I see more and more exactly what we're in for, for the next 4 years! I, of course, knew it would be this way, but to actually see it happening, is very depressing! I think what would help me in some way is if all of you could please share stories of anyone who you know who voted for Trump and is now having buyer's remorse! I really need to hear that there are those people out there that are now saying "F-You to Trump!" It would make me feel better to know that our side is growing in numbers. If you could take the time to do this for me, it would be much appreciated...thank you!

1. First, who received more votes? Clinton.

Second, welcome to DU and at least here you can post and converse with many others who share your feelings.

As to stories, I had breakfast this week with a group of former co-workers. One Trump supporter said he is already concerned because of how the GOP is talking about cuts to Medicare/Medicaid/Social security.

It almost seems as if many Trump voters were so concerned about "sending a message" that they ignored what the GOP actually does when in power.

I see cause for hope in the popular vote. And a foundation upon which to build.

voted for Trump and he actually had the mandate he claims.

Now remember that most voters rejected him.

But the best thing about this dreadful situation is that the extremism of right-wing leaders and the "representatives" ultraconservative plutocrats funded into office will finally become obvious to right-wing voters, who are as a group significantly more moderate. THIS IS BIG.

They did not elect Trump because they wanted to cancel the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, to privatize the VA, to get rid of the FDA. They want good schools, not cancellation of universal education and public schools. Most were happy to think he'd replace the ACA with something "better," but what they'll get if the ACA is repealed is a return to days of worrying if lack of insurance might break, or even kill, them.

People with more imagination will listen to the latest news of disastrous foreign policy, look at film of refugees from destroyed cities, and wonder for the first time if it could happen to them.

People who didn't pay attention before are going to learn just who and what Charles Koch is and his relation to the Republican leadership, conservative judges, and ultraconservative politicians around the nation.

Yes it will take a while for the lights to come on for many, though. The GOP's already focused on keeping power in 2018 and won't rush everything, witness the plan to repeal the ACA but not implement until after 2018. But Koch is 80. He doesn't have another 40 years to invest in dismantling government.

Fwiw, I have your problem, but I've been telling myself to regard what's happening as "interesting," because it is. Fascinating, even.

10. You really should post this excellent piece as a stand alone post.

It needs it.

Trump, like Reagan, channeled the wish for America to be great again. And while many of us, myself included, mocked his simplistic slogans, ad agencies know that simple and positive sells because it is easy to remember.

As to the Koch brothers, sons of the John Birch society founder, only a progressive media can expose them.

Again, please post this by itself. It is very well said.

2. Unfortunately, I can't give you any stories like that. I haven't spoken

with anyone who has volunteered that they voted for Trump.

But I suggest you consider changing your title to get more responses. Something more specific, like:

Does anyone have any friends/relatives who already regret voting for Trump?

Reality has to set in. Once he starts throwing people out on the streets, ruining their health care, screwing with Social Security, and whatever else he does, people will realize what happened.

I hope this helps - I say that a lot every single day. People will say it daily as he clusterfucks from one tragedy to the next atrocity.

People are gearing up to protest his coronation. It won't be pretty.

It will make GWB's installation look like a picnic, imo.
