"Happy Blues for John Glenn"

John Glenn was one of my personal heros along with Allen Shepard and Scott Carpenter. Besides strapping himself to a tin can full of explosives he was a fighter pilot in WWII and Korea.
If the book and movie "The Right Stuff" can be believed (and I think in this case it can) He stood up to LBJ when the VP tried to get his painfully shy wife to appear in a publicity op. "I am behind you 100%" he told her and LBJ was left sitting in his limo.
That was a stance that could have cost him his place in the program and almost did except that the other Mercury astronauts had Glenn's back as well.
Another fan of John Glenn was Bluesman Lighting Hopkins, who wrote this tune on the day that Glen orbited the Earth.
