Our local Dems in a dark blue area of newly- red PA, instead of staying home in the bitter cold, mourning and licking their wounds, came out in force tonight. Doubled our typical meeting size.
They were charged up. One of our committeemen said he had never seen this many Democrats at a meeting in 16 years.
You can do the same. Time to get shake off the depression, find your local committee and get involved.
Sanders voter? Green? Great! Join us! Change us! Move the committee left from the inside. We WANT you to.

(11,093 posts)what a great attitude about Sanders and Green voters. That's the way to build a coalition and bring about real change.
Thanks for posting this.

(11,816 posts)Older guy. I almost throught he might be a Republican "keeping an eye on things".
He sat through the whole meeting, which has to have been frustrating, and at the end he stood up and said "I'm just furious about Trump's pick for EPA, and I NEED to get involved, but don't know where to start."
The chairman didn't miss a beat: "Well, we have Joe XYZ here tonight. He's one of the area's preeminent environmental lawyers. I'll bet he can point you in the right direction". And Joe XYZ was sitting two down from the guy who wanted to get involved, and the end of the meeting, I saw them talking and exchanging information. We may never see Enviro Guy again, but that's okay - we hooked him up.
The pastor of one of our local churches, which I always assumed was a conservative church, gave a pretty rousing talk about how now more than ever we needed to remember the people who Trump is going to trample all over. It's a pretty Jewish area, and I give him props for reading his audience and appealing to our mutual support for social justice rather than going Full Jesus on the crowd. But it was inspiring, and good to know he and his wife want to get involved as well.
So for everyone - come on out! Show your local Dems some love! Let us hook you up with activists in the area. Hey - as a lowly committeeperson, you will even get to vote for who your county nominates for various positions from the county up to the President and whether they endorse one candidate or have an open primary.
