The John Glenn Mercury Stamp

Any oldsters remember the Mercury stamp issued on the day of John Glenn's historic flight? It was kept top secret until the mission was complete in case it failed. On the east coast they released it at about 3 PM - noon on the west coast.
My mother heard about it and grabbed us kids and drove (as I recall it was one of her pedal to the metal trips) to the post office in Seattle to get us each one. It was a great day that my mother told us never to forget! Lost the stamp though after many years.
