Is It Fair To Say Trump & McConnell Have Declared War Against the CIA & NSA?

and our entire National Intelligence apparatus (that includes SEVENTEEN AGENCIES) while depending the the FBI to carry their water?

Cause that's what it looks like. In the short term, it may work out for them

In the long term? My money is on the CIA and NSA and the rest of our National Intelligence.

It is not just the CIA who prepared the information regarding Russian interference and hacking of the DNC AND the RNC/Republicans.

The FBI, unfortunately decided to play games.

Despite all the news being generated by the change of power underway in Washington, there is one story this week that deserves top priority: Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. On Tuesday, the director of the National Security Agency, Admiral Michael Rogers, was asked about the WikiLeaks release of hacked information during the campaign, and he said, "This was a conscious effort by a nation-state to attempt to achieve a specific effect." He added, "This was not something that was done casually. This was not something that was done by chance. This was not a target that was selected purely arbitrarily."

The FBI covered up information about Russia seeking to tip the 2016 presidential election in Donald Trump’s favour, a senior Democrat claimed on Saturday, after reports emerged about spy agencies’ investigations into hacks of US political parties.

A secret CIA analysis found that people with connections to the Russian government provided emails, hacked from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign, to the whistleblower website WikiLeaks in the final months of the election, according to a Washington Post report published late Friday.

“The FBI had this material for a long time but Comey, who is of course a Republican, refused to divulge specific information about Russia and the presidental election,” Reid told MSNBC’s AM Joy on Saturday. Comey testified to Congress in July that he was no longer a registered Republican, though he belonged to the party most of his life.

The Washington Post reported on 19 November 2016 that Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter and Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James R. Clapper Jr. had recommended to President Obama that Rogers be terminated as director of the National Security Agency. Carter reportedly recommended he be terminated due to poor performance, whereas Clapper considered it wise that the position be held by a civilian. Both Clapper and Carter had put Rogers on notice for poor performance in internal security and for a poor leadership style. His termination was reportedly delayed due to stalled changes to the bureaucratic structure of the intelligence community. Later, Rogers reportedly met with President-Elect Trump without notifying his supervisors in what is an unprecedented action for a military officer. Trump is reportedly considering replacing Clapper with Rogers as Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

Turmoil at Pentagon in Transition to Trump Administration

http://www.military.com/daily-news/2016/11/26/turmoil-at-pentagon-in-transition-to-trump-administration.html

The chairman of the House intelligence committee want top administration officials to explain whether they are trying to oust the current head of the nation’s cyber force, the National Security Agency.
California GOP Rep. Devin Nunes is the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He sent a letter Saturday to the two men who lead the Pentagon and the nation’s coordinated intelligence agencies, asking them to explain why media reports claim administration officials are trying to oust Admiral Michael Rogers, who runs the nation’s combined cyberdefense and cyberwar agency.

Ashton Carter is the Secretary of Defense, and James Clapper is departing as director of national intelligence.

House Chairman Jumps into Fight Over Adm. Michael Rogers at NSA

“Since Admiral Rogers was appointed as NSA Director in April 2014, I have been consistently impressed with his leadership and accomplishments,” wrote Nunes, who joined President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team on Nov. 11. “His professionalism, expertise, and deckplate leadership have been remarkable during an extremely challenging period for NSA. I know other members of Congress hold him in similarly high esteem.”

who came up with the info. It was his agency who had the information. He was the guy who apparently showed up to work for once to talk to a reporter.

Part of the problem was his unwillingness to give up running NSA and only running Cybercommand.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Cyber_Command

In the last decade and a half the information security apparatus has become a bureaucratic nightmare as every law enforcement and military agency has created a "cyber" or "info" department to defend against attacks, intercept information, and/or attack adversary information systems and connected infrastructure (such as uranium enrichment centrifuges).

You have no less than 17 agencies in the "intelligence" business, and Cybercommand is part of US Stratcom, which includes all branches of the military.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Strategic_Command

So you can probably find some department in some agency that will tell you anything you want with the prospect of getting more budget and resources.

Most of the actual brains would be in government contractors, since the government employee pay is too low to attract first rate technical people. Even then, contractors work on billable hours and consequently lard their bills by staffing projects with large numbers of mediocre talent. The best talent work for finance, communications, software and computer/networking hardware corporations.
