That is the beauty of the denial defense mechanism. To the outside world, "he lies like a rug." But when he says something, it is true, in his mind, at least for that moment. It is a feature of Trump's personality, probably a result of his brain development.

seems to me we're well beyond the point of having to ask whether something he says is true or Trump even believes it himself. not that there aren't still important questions to answer, like "what do the things he says (true or not) justify?" and "who profits?"
