Salon:Republicans have said they first want to vote to unwind as much of the health care law as they can, though it wouldnt take effect for perhaps three years. Thats to give them and new President Donald Trump time to write legislation constructing a new health care system a technically and politically daunting task that has frustrated GOP attempts for unity for years.
Many congressional Republicans worry theyd be vulnerable during the transition period between a repeal vote and actually replacing Obamas law with a new system. Twenty million people now covered would face uncertainty about their future benefits, while unsettled health insurers might quickly start boosting premiums or stop selling policies in some areas to protect themselves.
In both cases, public wrath could be aimed at the party controlling the White House and Capitol the GOP.
Gee, only took you six years to figure that out?

(30,613 posts)Gotta keep it real. It's too bad "Republicans" is a big four-syllable word though; that may make it hard for the deplorables to follow.

(69,806 posts)i saw this and thought what a great thing it would be to be together on this-
that we stood together, despite our difference, to do something so important for people.
and that it is a huge leap forward that we took together.
wouldnt that be sweet if that was the story.
instead w have dystopian fiction.
they cant put their finger on why it is bad. bet some of those red staters who secretly are grateful feel like they are stealing something.
and oh, if you yanked it, it would be a bad thing. really, that part is true?
who knew?

(7,496 posts)I apologize I don't know who said it, but he said repealing and waiting 3 years is akin to "jumping out of a plane and knitting your parachute on the way down".

I do think they worry about headlines involving people suffering from lack of healthcare.
But then again it didn't matter much before ACA..
