Would you be ok with Pence being President ?

"Ok" is probably the wrong term . But if it meant keeping trump from being president and electors make Pence president ?

One thing trump had over pence was that he might be better on social issues but we see this won't happen.

I can't see electors voting Clinton or any other democrat. And not even most republicans . But since pence was actually on the ticket it seems they might feel more ok voting him.

I'm not sure there would be any Democrats in line, tho. The only one I've heard mentioned is Heitkamp for Agriculture.

Bearing that in mind, I had hopes for Huntsman for SOS, and then some ill fate would only need to befall the top 4.

What's that quote about never wishing anyone dead but reading some obituaries with enjoyment?

.....look at Pence as their backup for when they have to impeach Trump.

Pence is sane, and he knows government.

On the downside for all the women in the country, he thinks zygotes are sacred and take precedence over the life of any woman who has one in residence, no exceptions. He is a loathsome theocrat. He is a lot of things that scare me, but not as much as Mad King Donald in His Golden Tower.

Yes. Not okay. But Trump wants to be a dictator. He can possibly get us in a nuclear war. I am thinking of my children unlike Kelly Anne Conway. And he came out against Putin. Nato. Nuclear weapons. We can't get back our rights but not our lives. I'm not sure a third world war is worth my dislike of Pence.

At least unofficially.

I mean, do you actually see Donald doing anything other than tweeting and stumbling and fumbling around in circles?

He's not even bothering to read his intelligence briefings.

So in the Trump administration, someone's got to run the day-to-day business, since Trump's incapable of it, and that's going to be Pence.

So my answer, which goes against the grain here, is that if Pence is going to be running the show anyways, might as well make it official and put the spotlight on him.

Pence is looking to be cryptodictator of the U.S., and he'll be quite uncomfortable, and less able to do what he really wants if he's going to be pushed onto the stage and have the klieg-lights glaring on him.

It would be nice to say "well, he'd be a smarter president than Trump." That would be true. Problem is, a stillborn Irish Setter puppy would be a smarter president than Trump, and less likely than Pence to turn America into the most extreme theocracy the world has ever known.

This has never happened before in the History of America, but the way presidential elections work is the voters THINK they're voting for the candidate but they're REALLY voting for a slate of electors who go to wherever the Electoral College meets and cast votes for the person their party is supporting. They COULD, if they gave a shit about the nation and the rest of the world, advance a less-weaponized person for all the Republican-pledged electors to vote for.

at this point, i'm thinking the best we can hope for this country is that this orange ball of evil does exactly what it looks like he's setting up to do, and the electorate learns something about Republicans and narcissists by 2018. it's a long shot, but so is everything else.

as far as I'm concerned. I'd be less concerned about Mike Pence disrespecting our allies and other foreign leaders, or about him starting a nuclear war than I would be with Donald Trump, and at least he's not as immature. At the same time, I'd be more concerned about him slashing earned benefits and the news media not being as swift to hold him accountable as they would hold DT accountable due to the mere fact that he isn't as bombastic.

worse by the day.

So I've already thought about this. I agree that Trump, because he's so unpredictable, could potentially be better on social issues... But even that's not guaranteed, based on Trump's impulsivity and who he has chosen to surround himself with.

I am not comfortable with Trump's erraticness or volatility. Sadly, Pence would be better than Trump because he's an adult and at least we'd have a blueprint of what to expect.

pontificates for a few minutes on what he wants and then leaves again.

Now, he doesn't know how it should get done and he really doesn't know if it can actually be done or not. Because he doesn't understand the issue - at all. He doesn't know how government works or how to get things accomplished within its structure.

He just knows he wants it, and he wants it now.

Since everyone in that room is responsible for achieving what Trump wants, everyone in that room BUT Trump is president.

Because everyone in that room knows more about government than Trump ever will, and that's scary considering the cabinet picks.

I'd call them Trump's picks but I'm thinking a lot of those picks weren't really his idea until Bannon or Mercer convinced him they were.

I'm not OK with anything about Trump/Pence. Not now. Not tomorrow. Not on January 20th at high noon. Not the day after. Not any day after.
