Trump could refuse to take office.

That's a scenario that hasn't been discussed much. Maybe there's a strategy that could push him to the point where he said, "Screw it! I'm out!" I don't know what would push him to that breaking point, but maybe there's a way.

Even up to the day of the inauguration, he could refuse. Is there some way he could be shamed, embarrassed, frightened or angered enough to do that? In reality, I suspect he is a fragile, brittle person.

I think it's worth talking about. It could actually be our best opportunity.

What do you think? How could we help make this work?

He has said so many times. He is so smart, so clever etc his success is assured. Just look at his wonderful cabinet. Things are looking good. America will be great again. Anybody who says otherwisex you're fired!

We'd be stuck with him afterwards, in a resignation or impeachment scenario, but this is intriguing.

8. Maybe if he was somehow forced to disclose his tax returns.

There's obviously something in those returns that he really, really doesn't want made public. I don't think he's capable of being shamed, but if he had to disclose his tax returns as a condition for taking office, he might decide it's not worth it. Otherwise, I can't imagine him backing out after he's come this far.

9. It won't happen (he's too vain). And if it did, we'd have asshole Pence.

15. That's how I see it. Pence is a loathsome theocrat, but he is sane and knows government.

Trump is nuts. Certifiably nuts. And treasonous.

Predictions about Trump quitting have appeared here at every stage of the process. He would drop out before the convention. He would drop out during the convention. He would refuse to debate. He would drop out before the last debate. he would drop out before election day.

Wishful thinking. Nothing more.
