Between the fact that there's no governmental institution authorized to take the President to task for the multiple ethical violations Trump is already guilty of and the fact that the Congress has no political will to do it, we're essentially screwed.

I presume you're ruling out "regime change," that lovely euphemism left over from Bush the Stupider's reign of error. I don't mean to be rude, but what do you propose be done? What does it mean to "stand up to him"? What are the options, when Democrats don't control either house of Congress?

I know that locally, we have plans to resist any ridiculousness that comes down to us from the federal pike. Think of the innumerable ways Republican-dominated states monkey-wrench the Affordable Care Act or abortion or marriage equality, resisting compliance with clear mandates of the law or court rulings. Use the Republican template of judge shopping in Texas to get nation-wide injunctions to stop legislation they don't like, then drag out the appellate process interminably.

After eight years of Alex Jones and "militia" bullshit, Obama "doing" anything about Trump will quite possibly to extensive nationwide terrorist acts that make OKC look like kids with firecrackers, and at worst could lead to a literal civil war.

The same people who mindlessly voted for Trump are the same people who've listened to Faux News for twenty years and have been stroking themselves as the heroes in their paranoid fantasies.

This isn't going to end well no matter what happens, because a good portion of the Trump voters are deplorable, gullible lunatics.

and that is not a good thing. They have leverage on him, because of all his baggage.
He will sign every piece of legislation they want or they will impeach him.

Trumps is a liar, but let just for the sake of argument say he was telling the truth about pledging to not touch social security. Republicans in the house and Senate got him by the balls.
