Syria is the new Bloodlands.

In the 1930s and 1940s, two of the 20th Century's most evil men, Adolph Hitler and Josef Stalin, ruled over Eastern Europe, at first allied, then as adversaries.

Millions died as a result of several genocides, warfare and ethnic strife. Historian Timothy Snyder referred to Eastern Europe of this time as the Bloodlands.

Now in this century, we again have two evil opposing sides fighting one another with no respect whatsoever for the civilian population. On one side we have Assad and Putin, on the other we have ISIS, and in the middle we have innocent civilians who only wish to live in peace free from oppression.

What we see in Aleppo, like what we saw in Eastern Europe, is the bloody fruit when evil men fight one another.
