Nate Silver and Harry Reid both believe that James Comey, the FBI director, threw the election to Trump

It appears that Hillary Clinton is not alone in attributing her loss to Donald Trump to meddling by the FBI director, James Comey. Nate Silver, the statistical guru who runs Five Thirty Eight, said in a series of tweets on Sunday morning that Clinton’s hunch was right:

I’ll put it like this: Clinton would almost certainly be President-elect if the election had been held on Oct. 27 (day before Comey letter).

While Silver stopped short of accusing Comey of acting on partisan motives, Harry Reid, D-Nev., the outgoing Senate minority leader, did not hold back during a Saturday interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid.

“We’ve all read the press the last few days, the FBI had this material for a long time but he, Comey, who is of course a Republican refused to divulge this information regarding Russia and the presidential election,” Reid said.

1. I think the Comey letter had as much to do with her loss as anything else. If you watched the poll

numbers, Hillary was leading and widening her lead until that letter was published and they started going downhill from there.

2. I liked and supported Hillary Clinton unreservedly...

but that letter from Comey, with essentially a week to go, was like a sucker punch to the gut and it took our breath away.

Then, tying it to Huma Abedin and her pariah husband - her most loyal assistant and confidant - reinvigorated every single issue regarding the perceived email "scandal" - that was a dagger in the back.

3. When that letter hit,

and I have said it before,the tone of responses while phone banking,started to go sour. What really hurt us was,no response from Hilary the Campaign Headquarters. All that was needed was a National Live Ad buy attacking Comey and his motives.
