(9,534 posts)Besides the obvious reasons for not installing him, they are probably worried about a Democratic presidency.
So point out to them that if they do the right thing and save America from a foreign-controlled president who could easily be blackmailed, Republicans will still have control of the House and Senate, so they can easily block any extremist legislation a President Clinton may want to push through. Her power would largely be limited to executive actions, and those can simply be undone in 4 years by whoever the next president is. There will be lots of checks and balances on her power. But if Trump is president, there will be virtually none. He has shown a dangerous tendency by refusing to hear intelligence briefings, praising Russia, etc. and appointing cabinet officials with no experience or who want to dismantle the agencies they'd be heading up. He is free to dismantle any and all federal agencies, destroy Medicare and Social Security, and push whatever he wants through Congress. Also a president can launch nukes with no Congressional approval needed. Trump has a temper and is vindictive, qualities that could cause him to start a war.
With Clinton, you'd simply have four more years of gridlock. She's not going to be able to give amnesty to illegal aliens or fund lavish spending projects, as those things would require Congressional approval. We can live with that. But Trump is a danger to us all.
