General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsLast night I was a mole
at a President-Elect Donald J. Trump Self-Adoration rally.
I just wanted to mix in with the crowd and pick up on some the chatter.
I saw some of the expected things, others not quite expected.
The not so expected:
Walked into the center to non-conservative Neil Young's "Keep On Rockin' In The Free World" and LGBTQ Elton John "Tiny Dancer".
A smattering of boos whenever Paul Ryan was mentioned/introduced.
Everyone in the room was in agreement that "Man of the Year" over "Person of the Year".
The large number of young women (the one thing I can't get over about the election is Trump getting 42% of the women vote).
Only saw a couple of yahoos (a couple of InfoWars.com shirts, no NRA shirts).
The expected:
Trump displaying his big ego (he spent a lengthy amount of time going into detail how Election Night unfolded - quite boring).
Trump taunting Media Row.
A few people of color, but the crowd was very, very White. I'd say 98% White. Keep in mind, this is Milwaukee County.

Were you nervous?

(2,958 posts)Keep quiet, lay low and no one beats me up. Take advantage of my white privilege. Just had to make sure Mrs. Jimbo laid low, she likes to talk.
When I walked by the Stop Trump protesters at the gate, I wanted to give them a high-five but had to remain incognito. Then had to endure the barbs thrown their way. They were way more brave than I.

(6,409 posts)I used to make the rounds of all the victory parties on election night. I remember one Libertarian event in 1980. Very weird and lots of fun.

(2,958 posts)My understanding it was to start at 7. I arrived ten minutes early so I guessed I missed speeches by Clarke and Duffy.
I cannot imagine Rodgers being a Trump fan. I don't believe he has ever been direct about it, but in the past indications is he is to the left.

(37,748 posts)I've noticed that other than keytars, kids named Hunter, Mason and Tiffany, and Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts, his rallies are about the whitest thing since the color was invented.
