Report: Twitter told it was cut from meeting with Trump in retribution for refusing to allow emoji version of hashtag 'CrookedHillary,' source tells PoliticoTwitter was told it was "bounced" from Wednesday's meeting between tech executives and President-elect Donald Trump in retribution for refusing during the campaign to allow an emoji version of the hashtag #CrookedHillary, according to a source close to the situation.
Twitter is one of the few major U.S. tech companies not represented at Wednesday afternoon's Trump Tower meeting attended by, among others, Apple's Tim Cook, Amazon's Jeff Bezos, Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg and Tesla's Elon Musk an omission all the more striking because of Trump's heavy dependence on the Twitter platform. With some 17.3 million followers of his account, the president-elect has made Twitter into the de facto press channel of his transition operation.
Trump has had public beefs with other tech execs at the sit-down. He's criticized Cook over Apple's refusal to decrypt a cellphone whose owner was implicated in a terrorist incident, for example, and Bezos over his ownership of The Washington Post. But, it seems, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey's role in what the Trump operation saw as the breaching of a deal was a step too far for those close to Trump.
The incident at issue was detailed in a Medium post last month by Gary Coby, director of digital advertising and fundraising for the Trump campaign. According to Coby, Dorsey personally intervened to block the Trump operation from deploying as part of a $5 million deal between the social media company and the campaign an emoji showing, in various renderings, small bags of money being given away or stolen. That emoji would have been offered to users as a replacement for the hashtag #CrookedHillary, a preferred Trump insult for his Democratic opponent.

(5,953 posts)If I owned Twitter, I'd be tempted to cancel his account just as a DARE for him to do something. (And by 'something' I mean expose himself as the mentally disturbed, petty little imp that he is.)

(7,182 posts)Why don't the other U.S. tech companies cancel? Why do they allow one of them to be bullied?
Sad state of affairs.
Also interesting is hearing that Twitter and Trump campaign had $5 million deal. People think Twitter is all about user driven trends and don't think about $$ driving trends.

(3,847 posts)are trustworthy. These BS meetings at that hideous building rather than in DC in a real transition office should make EVERY CEO in the country join together and tell this angry anus face he has gone to far.
if they really think the people won't notice the treatment by these spineless chickenshit "Tech Giants" then they aren't the smartest kids in the classroom. They will be used, chewed up and spat out when the Gropenfeuher is done with him. In the mean time boycotting their products and making them lose money for backing this POS traitor would be lovely to see.

(40,149 posts)He has some form of a psychiatric disorder. It has gone undiagnosed because his family and those around him are nothing more than sycophants and enablers.
Anyone who has worked in a family business has seen this before. The family brings the "family culture" to work every day. Trump is bringing to The White House the same sick culture that exists in Trump Tower. His expectation is that the entire world is nothing more than an extension of Trump Tower. His word is final and everyone better fall in line and do what he wants or else pay a price.
The entire world is about to find this out.

culture eats strategy for breakfast.
said the first thing they did was clean up the culture. made everyone feel wanted and needed, but also dumped the jerks.
wish i thought the kid would have his ear.

(4,642 posts)lets face it, all ISIL has to do is attack one of sniffles many properties anywhere in the world and all hell will break out. He will destabilize what is left after 15 years of wars, he will put our military at great risk along with everything else. He is Damien in The Omen.

(16,130 posts)jeez, how correct you are. It won't be the Beruit barracks, or the USS Cole. It'll be a trump branding rights piece of real estate. What a fucking mess we are in.

(4,642 posts)FSTV was talking about this yesterday and also mentioned that any attacks on sniffles property will also be disastrous for his businesses, who would want to stay at a target. Another good reason he should completely divest. He wanted to be the big man in the WH, now he should take responsibility for the first time in his life and divest but we know that will never happen.
I've also thought that he is like Damien.
And I never would have believed it if anybody had told me that the conservative demagogue who would put our country's future in dire jeopardy would live on the west side of Manhattan.

They should ban him if they were really serious about cracking down on trolls. The inevitable boycott would remove 99% of them and make the platform exponentially better.
