Is there anything from stopping the House from just going ahead and putting Trump in anyway? Unless they aren't allowed to make the same choice that the electoral college rejected, I don't think it will make any difference in results.

247 Republicans in the house to 188 Democrats. That's a lot of repugnatcans that would have to break ranks and make an alternate selection. The house speaker is now solidly in tRump's pocket. They obviously have no interest in stopping the tRump movement since they aren't lifting a finger to investigate foreign tampering in our elections.

This leaves me wondering, if this did happen, what would it actually accomplish?

then it goes to the House. However, that selection process is not "one Representative, one vote". Each state gets one vote, and whoever gets a majority there becomes president.

Fun fact -- if the electoral college can't choose a VP, the selection goes to the Senate, with much the same rules as the House.
