When the DNC-hacks came out first, the russian government ridiculed them as unbelievable because the US-government wouldn't commit to an official allegation.
"It cannot be true, otherwise, the US-government would have said so publicly."
Then more and more evidence piled up (such as that Guccifer 2.0 wasn't a Romanian but a Russian) and Russia somehow switched to ignoring this.
Now, the US intelligence-community has said that Russia hacked in order to help Trump win the election. This has blown up into a MAJOR political scandal in the US.
A landmark-scandal of historical proportions.
And if true, an act of espionage, sabotage and warfare against the US.
And what is Putin's response?
Is he ridiculing the allegations as US-propaganda?
Is he demanding that the US release the evidence for their accusations?
Is he demanding investigations that will clear Russia of all charges?
Is he blaming it all on non-government hackers from Russia, like those who recently stole money from a bank via hacking?
If Russia is innocent in all of this, why isn't Russia proclaiming its innocence?
There's a psychological trick for cops how to find out if a suspect is guilty. Arrest them and keep them in jail over night. Then have the warden take a look in the cell early in the morning.
The innocent suspect will be awake already. He will be anxious because he can't stop thinking what comes next.
The guilty suspect will be asleep. He's calm, because he knows what comes next.
