(43,085 posts)But he was able to express himself in a more lucid manner long ago. I saw the 1988 interview with Oprah and he was actually using full sentences and not just repeating stock phrases and words. Of course, underneath it all, the narcissism was still quite evident, but it was more effectively hidden.

(16,968 posts)Of course there are plenty of people in the public eye who have laughed/cried on cue. That's standard for the campaign trail in particular.
But in the case of Trump, a controlling nature is paired with what would appear to be a thin skin and a lack of discipline. Hence all the personal attacks, verbal or written. Yet there's an emotional emptiness.
Bill Clinton, on the other hand...
