It is when men no longer feel that they have adequate choices in their styles of life,
when they conclude that there are no longer possibilities of honorable maneuver and compromise, when they
decide that the time has come for "ultimate" social loyalties and political decisions-- it is then that
ideology begins to flourish.
--- Robert B. Ray (from his essay, the "Narrative Paradigm"
I have alway liked this essay and that one line in particular. I think it apropos to where we are at right now. It may take a while, maybe a long while but I suspect the American people will not stand for the brazen coup that has just occurred. They will not go back to binge watching netflix like nothing happened. Nope.
When I think of the millions of Americans who pledge allegiance every day, who have fought and died both for this country and in this country, fighting for what is right, I know in my heart that it is only a matter of time before the people stand up to this brazen coup. People will act. Some will hit the streets. Some will explore other options. It is not going to be pretty.
