BREAKING NOW: MSNBC
FBI backs CIA view that Russian hacks intervened to help trump win. The story is in the Washington Post per Brian Williams.
Updated: Obama seems fine with election outcome and Russia's involvement. Weak.

Maybe - just maybe - though I'm not holding my breath

(4,642 posts)its not going to get real. Sounds to me like he's telling the Dems to let it go, move on, do that hope & change thingy.
And we saw no change.
And I've lost hope.
But hey ho, we got change coming now! Hang on.

(7,807 posts)He seems so... how can I put this... understated.
All we have left now to hope for is that there is some real stuff going on behind the scenes that can't be talked about.
Well, that and reminding trumpanzees that they are getting what they voted until 2020.

(18,837 posts)So when he says that "We need to take action," I have no idea what that means. No idea at all. My first reaction to taking action in the wake of a rigged election would be a do-over, and that's not going to happen.

(4,642 posts)during the press party, the night before he took down Bin Laden. May be just hopeful thinking but maybe, just maybe there is a shit storm coming down on someone in the near future. If not, we all are in for a shit storm for the next 4 to 8 or more years.

(15,634 posts)I've been waffling between trying to look at reasons to be optimistic and outright despair for the past 5 weeks. It seems I'm in my best place mentally when I ignore the news; avoid DU and other political websites and reading material; and keep busy and occupied with personal projects, socializing and recreating. And frankly, I don't like that one bit. If it weren't for our three young adult kids ... my wife and I would be thinking about Ecuador. It can't be any worse than the US, its cheaper and the weather's good year-round. Kinda sad.

(61,688 posts)If my comments seemed defensive. I had to not watch any evening news, cnn, msnbc, nothing for the first month. It was too infuriating and depressing. Like you, I had to refocus to keep my head on right. Sadly, this election has had a profound effect on my feelings of hopelessness, though.
I daydream about leaving. But we are over 55 and our kids are young. Both are still in high school. The older is disabled. I'm not sure how welcome we would be in most countries with these circumstances unless we were wealthy. We just don't have enough saved because of several economic downturns that robbed our retirement plans.
It breaks my heart to see this, and frankly, I'm glad both of my parents aren't alive to see it. My mother worked for the War Department and my father served in the South Pacific, seeing battle more than once. It pisses me off to no end that he fought and nearly died with the eventual result of people like trump establishing fascism and an oligarchy.

Otherwise Obama has finished and there is nothing he can do to change what ignorant, racist idiots have voted for. Making ameriKKKa great and white again. Barack Obama you kept us on even keel in spite of the obstructionist white supremacists that nipped at your heels for 8 fucking years. He and his family will always be an example of class and elegance not seen in a generation or two and now we prepare for the KKKlampetts. JEEEZZZUS!!!!!

I blog on my local red neck site, let me tell you something, none of them believe that Russia hacked us let alone influenced the election.
They post that until they see more proof they will not believe it. I guess they want the name of the spy put out there? Obama needs to release more info, needs to declassify more. There are like 4 progressives on my site and I could use a little help from president Obama.

(7,723 posts)they have in Russia. But fuck, obviously the DNC was hacked and it benefited Trump, and Trump loves Putin and Putin is happy about Trump elected, Trump campaign has ties to Russia, Tillerson appointment, etc. It doesn't take a genius to see the pattern here.

(23,915 posts)if the roles were reversed and this was the Obama win in 2008, do you have any doubt whatsoever that W would have ginned up a goddam redneck riot over Russia's interference in our elections?
elected Republicans have minimal ethics and a paper-thin pretense to morality, putting profit above all else, but they fucking fight for their dystopian ideals, every one of them
their goal is to show government can't help the people by destroying it from within. now they can burn as much of it down as Putin wants them to burn down. i guess we'll see how far he wants to go with it, i expect him to take revenge sevenfold for the dissolution of the USSR: we fucked up his homeland and now he's going to beat the holy shit out of ours.

(5,599 posts)I'm sure Pres. Obama could do a number of things to humiliate Trump. The question is doeshe love
America more or will scoring points against an opponent win the day. I know the answer for Trump, but for Obama, he will not undermine our institutions and long held traditions just to satisfy our anger.
