Why can't we have ours? If it's a question of $$, I would think RIGHT NOW would be the time to ask wealthy liberals along with everybody else to hop on board. As long as liberals are in the minority and have a common and vulgar enemy in common, then perhaps they can keep from fighting amongst themselves and stay in message about these traitors.
WHY don't we have one? I remember --what was it? Air America? But I' not talking about a show or anything like that. We need a NETWORK like Fox. . .

(13,088 posts)Fox comes with the cheapest cable package.
Fox comes with the cheapest satellite package.
Fox is played on all the military bases.
Fox is played in many businesses.
Al Gore's channel was not.
Link TV does not.
Democracy Now does not.
We have never had a channel.

(17 posts)both have Link and Free Speech TV in their basic packages and both carry Democracy Now.
They also carried Current TV in basic, but it didn't last.

(89,240 posts)The only time I watch is during a Republican Administration.
But I was thinking more of the trolls who spend ALL their time in front of the television. What would it take to convince the KoolAid drinkers?

But for the which way the wind blow types we need to make sure they can at least get some truth. The media doesnt help. So it's just about having to work harder.

Fox News made its mark when Clinton became President and they aired impeachment and accusatory corruption stories 24/7. It didn't take them long to become engrained.
We now have Trump corruption stories that will be plentiful for at least 4 years.
There are also a bevy of experienced, professional, established people to anchor news shows every day if they get paid appropriately. That is where the money comes in.
Bill Mahr, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, Keith Olberman, Joy Reid, Thom Hartmann and Stephanie Miller for starters. Each with their own audience to bring in.
It would only take two things to make it successful: Money and balls

(20,568 posts)and it is doubtful the Democrats would ever construct something like that. Something must be done though. If fox is offering financial and other material benefits for airing their channel in public places, that must be considered along with bringing back the Fairness Doctrine.
Let's find out what those benefits are and publicize the fact that people are watching content that was paid for.

(35,296 posts)Fox News is playing, there was one TV at the mall that played CNN and the mall got so many complaints they
started playing Fox about three months ago. Just like this morning at the gym Fox was on showing Obama's press
conference from yesterday and they had four Republicans analyzing it. Yesterday after his news conference Neil
Cavuto had people on there that knocked down every positive claim he made about the economy. They don't
believe the unemployment numbers, the Dow goes up 13000 points since he took office but they are talking
about the Trump rally. These Republicans watch Fox and believe nothing else they hear. CNN is the Clinton News Network
and MSNBC are socialist.

(24,461 posts)People don't seem to get that face time - mere coverage - plays a greater-than-perceived role, almost as pivotal a role, as just straight-up Fox bias does.

(100,040 posts)And I think that's already started the way the Donald Trump and his supporters are eroding freedom of the press and attacking and threatening anyone he doesn't agree with. But I think the more we keep pointing out how the MSM has become so one sided in the last 20 years, the more it will cause that bubble to burst.

Conservatives march in lockstep and must be told what to think
