(12,157 posts)It didn't happen to me but it may be a result of the DU reboot after the hack.
Edit. I just reread your OP- did it happen yesterday or did you notice it yesterday? I know I tend not to look at my post times so it might go some time before I realized that it had gone to GMT.
ZULU if anyone cares is what we called GMT in the military. We had two clocks one local and the other ZULU. Both were 24 hour clocks.

(7,178 posts)and then that same day at nigh-time re-instated... again w/o any message.
Weird?

(4,959 posts)It sounds to me like maybe your cookies got reset somehow, a minor glitch or possibly something you did with your browser. You can change the time setting in your account.
You could also ask Skinner in ATA in case there is a bigger issue - he's likely the only one who can tell you for sure. But you give the impression that you think something nefarious is happening, and I can't fathom what that would be, so that's why I asked what *you* think caused it.
I'm still wondering what you think caused this to happen. With your use of all-caps and bolding, and choosing to post it in GD rather than ATA, you've got me very curious about what you think.

(7,178 posts)but later on Friday evening, I was able to sign in. There was no message. No messages before or after! and no deleted posts.
Then on Saturday I noticed my time was messed up.

(4,959 posts)I'm guessing some glitch or human error caused your account to get revoked and that caused your time zone settings to go back to default. Clearly the problem was solved, because you are able to post again.
But no one but the admins can tell you for sure, so go to the Ask the Administrators and ask them.

(7,178 posts)What time zone is DU in? I am in Eastern time (DST) and
just posted, and it's timestamped 5 hours later than Eastern time.

I switched it back to the MST zone I'm in, and it's stayed there ever since.

(5,164 posts)I first registered here the night before the election. When I came back 2-3 days later the site was down due to hacking. Last night I noticed the time seemed very off. I assumed it was due to different time zones maybe.

(5,164 posts)That must have been it... I was bit freaked out to see the site had been hacked because I already knew something was very wrong with the whole election obviously.
pinboy3niner
(53,339 posts)The sign-in page included an option to reset, but if you missed it or it has subsequently changed, you can go to 'My Account' at any time to select your correct time zone.
Welcome to DU!

I think it's been off a couple days as posting times didn't make sense. But I just noticed a reply marked tomorrow so I checked. Yep, GMT time.

(64,971 posts)I'm not thinking i changed it. I did. The times were right for at least 2 weeks, probably more like 3 after DU came back up. Then one morning the time was GMT.
Meowmee
(5,164 posts)for the welcome and the explanation.. I will try to change mine now. I just noticed mine is 5 and 1/2 hours off my time zone. Strange.

(64,971 posts)Went from CST to GMT. I changed it back and it has stayed CST since. Not sure how that could happen, but it did.
