Axelrod's concerned for our republic.

Axelrod: Electoral College revolt would be "very, very destructive" http://hill.cm/8VXcxR5

Democratic strategist David Axelrod on Monday warned against an Electoral College revolt against President-elect Donald Trump.

"Look, Alexander Hamilton conceived of the Electoral College and the founding fathers as a buffer against democracy run amok, as a safe guard against someone who was unsuited for the office to take the office," Axelrod said on CNN's "New Day."

"But it's never been used in the history of our Republic," he continued.

“To have it happen now, despite the fact that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and all that's swirling around with Russia and so on," he said, "I believe would split the country apart in a really destructive way and it would set this mad cycle in which every election the Electoral College vote would be in question.”

...this is the view of someone who has almost nothing to lose from a Trump presidency.

The electoral college vote SHOULD be questioned every election, especially when it's mandate is to afford the presidency to the loser of the popular vote. Axelrod abandons Hamilton's intent, even as he acknowledges it. You're worthless to this debate, Axe. Sit down.

...so why not go with it? Except maybe for VladP, his Little Donny puppet, and the billionaires--I'm sure they'll all emerge better off. My only concern would be that I'm not on the side of the folks with the guns, so my side's gonna get really bloodied.

We have a trojan horse in our midst. We are under threat of being destroyed from within by a foreign, hostile threat.

It must be done. The electors must not elect Trump. If Trump can hope that Russians hack Hillary, I can hope the CIA helps to save us from this threat to our country and our way of life.

Let the chips fall where they need to. We can sort it out later.

we have to abide by it. So if we have to abide by it, it should function the way it is supposed to. The electors' names should be on the ballots, not the candidates. They are having it both ways by making it a formality that goes to party hacks of whichever party won the vote for that state.

And then if a moron is elected, they should do what the founders wanted them to do and pick someone rational.

And the threat that morons won't like it should not stand - that's spinelessness.

...in just 16 years, I'd say the Electoral College is a worthless POS relic of an era when we could count the number of states on our bodily digits. It's time to go.

We are 2 countries, at the least. CA and NY should take the lead and invite states into their country based on a set of progressive criteria. Years ago I believed that this should happen. It won't, but it would get us out of the regressive yoke that the Trumpasses use to strangle us.
