She just isn't a strong candidate in the Midwest. Never has been particularly so.

What Minnesota does have is a large-ish rural population which has always been conservative, and this year is more so. The urban areas of Minneapolis, St. Paul and Duluth voted for Hillary; everywhere else in the state didn't. Gary Johnson and Jill Stein got some votes, maybe about 3%. The sad fact is that out in the country, a lot of people really hated Hillary, probably as the result of years of Fox News and right-wing hate radio.

They may provide some "coattails" for the presidential candidate.

The Iron Range also used to provide a reliable Dem vote, but it is much diminished and may have slid away.
