Trump is a dolt* but do you think his staff knows how divided the nation is ? Do they care?

Most presidents, even the ones we dislike, paid lip service to uniting the country. Richard Nixon said he "wanted to bring the country together." George W. Bush said he was a "uniter and not a divider.


We are more divided than at any time since the Civil War. That has to have profound effects going forward. In my anger I often write about California seceding but to see the dissolution of the nation I love makes me sad. It sounds quaint but America is just not a big piece of real estate. It embodies ideals like the rule of law, due process, majority rule/minority rights and the sanctity of the ballot. I see these ideals being shredded.





*Trump is a dolt when it comes to seeing the big picture. He is obviously very good at self aggrandizement and exploiting people's fear of the other.
