Sanders to Trump voters: Why vote for somebody who lies?

BY JENNIFER CALFAS - 12/13/16 09:37 AM EST

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Monday questioned supporters of President-elect Donald Trump, asking why they would vote for “somebody who is lying.”

Sanders and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes spoke with Trump voters in a town hall in Kenosha, Wis., about the 2016 election.

Asked about Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the U.S., several supporters said Trump just suggests controversial policies for attention and isn’t serious.
Sanders minced no words with his reply.

“Why do you vote for somebody who, in a sense then, is lying?”

Several Trump supporters speaking with Sanders said they would not support a Muslim ban, despite Trump touting it early in his campaign...

Does he not understand that to the average Trump voter racial privilege matters more to them than being truthful.

What we will do is say, instead of giving tax breaks to billionaires, we are going to create millions of jobs for low-income kids so they’re not hanging out on street corners. We’re going to make sure that those kids stay in school or are able to get a college education. And I think when you give low-income kids, African Americans, white, Latino kids the opportunities to get their lives together, they are not going to end up in jail. They’re going to end up in the productive economy, which is where we want them.

He still believes that economic equality is the answer to institutionalized white supremacy in America’s past and present. Because race relations will get better when poor kids quit hanging out on street corners and live productive lives instead.

Most of his supporters don't understand that supporting a racist is just a step under being one...

.... blacks.

Again, the question of why believe someone who lies at least intimates that there's no recognition that humans are tribal and when racial tribalism of any kind runs people are going to polarize on racial lines.

I'll keep an open mind, but his dismissing of "PC" ... that's .... that's bothersome to me.

PC means you can insult people like me all you want with little consequence in the work place etc....

We'll see

EDIT: I still think Sanders should be or appoint someone a leaders of the progressive cause despite what I see as a tribalism blind spot.

His blind spot is 23423 times more viable than the next GOPr imho...
