The election of a candidate who is a racist, a sexist, a misogynist, a xenophobe, a nativist, a sexual predator, and collaborator brings into question every sacrifice made on behalf of this country. That country is gone. I say that as a son of a veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart for contacting malaria and taking shrapnel in the gut and eye which left him blinded in that eye in the Battle Of North Africa.

My America is gone.

I would move to that state if I didn't live o it already.

I was pissed when it was tweeted that Trump won the popular vote IF you exclude NY and CA. Exclude us? Try to function without these two
States, moron.

I wonder if it will ever recover, seriously. Thanks to Fox News and all of that ilk, they have ripped this country apart for their profit by turning fear and frustration into anger. We have free speech, I'm OK with that, but irresponsible speech laced with lies, distortions, hatred and propaganda should be banned from mass distribution.

and right wingers in blue states. It wouldn't work unless everyone moved to an appropriate state. Big logistics problem. Though I would not have to move and you would not. So the question would be to our red state brethren, if they could live in a country that had our values, would they be willing to uproot? That could be motivating.

I've never really lived in a red state (went to college in a swing state). So I don't know if I would actually make the move. Problem is the whole family would have to if they were not nearby.

Same for the reds in our states.

Since the divide is rural/urban, it would be interesting to see if we cold make a deal with them where they could get a chunk of land for them, and the rest would be for us. They would not want the Left Coast. They'd want the Gulf of Mexico and lower Atlantic, and they'd have that so they would not be landlocked.

How long would it be before we had illegal immigrants from their country when its economy failed? lol.

Is this divide severe enough? Some people might stay because their spouse would not leave, either because their spouse is a right winger or didn't care enough about politics to move. This divide intrudes into families. Still it would be interesting, because you'd have a choice, either a red government or a blue one, and a lot of people might move on that basis. Dumbfuckistan would be attractive to rural people in blue states.

It would make an interesting poll - what would you do if offered that choice? It would show just how important a people think this stuff really is.

Which is just one of many reasons why they hate us so much. Lazy-ass white shitheads having to do their own work.

Let 'em go, and good riddance.

I was born and raised in Texas, and I still have some good memories of growing up there. But we need to cut them loose, for the good of humanity...

When it loses 18 military bases, NASA, USAA and all those defense contractors it's economy will collapse.

Accepting secession as a practical reality or alternative should really be supported by objective evidence prior to the premise being allowed in public, else it may poop on the carpet... again.

It's not difficult to house-train a hypothesis, it only requires observation, measurement and testing before it becomes road-ready, publicly available and disciplined enough not to pee at unwarranted times.

I live in Texas and I hear a lot of secessionist BSing. None of those idiots ever stops to consider that we have 18 military bases, NASA, USAA and several defense contractors. Other than USAA that's all federal money coming in to the state. (USAA caters to military families). If Texas seceded all those bases would have to close, NASA, USAA and all those defense contractors would have to leave the state. Overnight, Texas would become a third world economy.

Sure, I'd love to let the blue states and red states split and run their various economic experiments. The problem is, knowing that the red states have bad economic ideas; corrupt, nepotistic governments and lousy educational systems I know that they will become the new Mexico in short order. (Sorry, maybe I'm wrong to project Texas onto the other red states.)

So, in order to make such a split happen we need a few things. First, we need travel vouchers for everybody who wants to switch states and can't. Rich red-staters have had ample opportunity to "Go Gault" but, of course they haven't done so. They like preying upon our economy that's why they want it de-regulated - so it is easier to prey on us. When they are finally boxed in they will leave on their own but they won't help their poor cousins come along.

Next, we're going to need some big-ass Trump walls. Once those red-staters figure out they've screwed themselves they're going to come running for our generous welfare system. We can't let that happen. That's why we offered limited time travel vouchers early on. They made their choices, they need to lie in them.

Finally, on a personal note, I came here to support an local environmental organization. They need my help more than blue state orgs. I don't want to abandon that work but I wouldn't want to stay here if TX actually seceded.

They are trapped in a stagnant 20th century fantasy.

Human civilization is now global and they've been left behind.

It's sad, mostly.
