(59,578 posts)More than "enough", though . . .
Nine countries in the world possess a total of 15,375 nuclear weapons. The United States and Russia account for 93 percent of them. Since their peak in the mid-1980s, global arsenals have shrunk by over two-thirds. More countries have given up weapons and programs in the past 30 years than have tried to acquire them. The direction is positive, but when you are fleeing a forest fire it is not just direction but speed that matters. Ploughshares Fund is committed to reducing nuclear threats before it is too late.

(7,521 posts)I posted back during the W era, and lurked mostly during Obama's term so anything I wrote is probably way buried. I suspect it might have been a smush of my real name, which I'd prefer not to use going forward.

(31,106 posts)these comments are surely tied to some government contract he will execute where somehow in the process his financial world will be enriched.
Obviously he is a dangerous and unstable person and should not be allowed access to a single handgun let alone thousands of nuclear weapons, but follow the money, always.

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Arms manufacturers will love this. It'll be good for the construction industry, too. Think about all those home bunkers people will start having built again, just like back in the "good old days" of the Cold War.

(7,521 posts)That DT is freshly immersed in this new world of politics, and possibly not cognizant of a good part of existing political and world history that one gets from non-business college courses and experience in elected office. As he learns stuff, his ego believes that he is the first person to have these sorts of ideas and he posts stuff like this, completely oblivious that a good part of everyone else is decades ahead of his understanding.
It's like coming in on page 10 of a thread and going "Hey I know what we should do! (posts duplicate idea about something brought up on page 3, discussed on page 4-6 and moved away from on page 7, fully believing nobody has thought of this yet)
I think he's just begun the reactionary 70s-80s Cold War phase of thinking. A good part of the world knows what's up with nukes and is standing just past the "come to its senses" finish line waiting for the Don to catch up.
(I suspect he also does not realize that the Cold War was with his best buddy Russia...))
