(11,119 posts)2. I think the supernova has been referred to in several ancient texts...
other than Jewish/Hebrew in the middle east. Only the bright star is referred to in texts, not a baby Jesus and all that. I saw it on History Channel (before they developed the Ancient Aliens show, of course) or the Science Channel. I'll go see if I can find a link...
ETA: Sorry - I got the story of the supernova confused with the Sky Disk of Nebra...

it would not have shined a light directly down on any spot on earth.
Clearly much of the Christmas story was made up long after the fact.
