We Must Resist! With Every Fiber of our Beings. We must Resist!

We are confronted with a government that lacks popular legitimacy. Trump may have the formal legitimacy that the electoral college can confer, but he does not have the popular legitimacy that only the people at large can confer.

Even his formal legitimacy is under a cloud -- thanks to Russian interference in our election, Comey's extraordinary and unprecedented behavior, and, the real possibility that either Trump or his staff treasonously colluded with the Russians.

This situation must not stand. Trump must be resisted at every turn, by every means that the constitution affords to us - limited though they be.

We cannot allow democratic politicians to accommodate him or compromise with him. We cannot allow the media to normalize him. We cannot look the other way as republican politicians compete to play the role of henchmen and enablers, in the deluded hope that he can be controlled or contained.

In normal times, after fair, free, and open elections, it is arguable that the losing side has perhaps a duty to play the part of loyal opposition. These are not normal times. Normal politics is no longer in order.

The triumph of Trump is the triumph of tyranny. And it is a birthright of every American, one bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers, to resist tyranny at every turn.

Our resistance should be as focused, as determined, as disciplined as was the resistance of the Civil Rights movement, as unyielding as that of the abolitionist, as principled the woman's suffrage movement, as fearless as the anti-war movement.

Schumer needs to fight back and we have to hold our elected officials accountable. Trump will cause tyranny and we will no longer have a democracy, and it will happen quickly like pulling a rug from under our feet. We have a puppet and Putin is pulling the strings. Putin is laughing his head off.
