People who voted to drain the swamp are about to get eaten by the alligators

Spandan Chakrabarti | December 23, 2016

Donald Trump bet on stupid, and he won.

A long line of voters regretting their votes for Donald Trump seem to be coming from two camps: those who actually took Donald Trump at his word, and those who believe he was play-acting to get elected. His true believers seem to be shocked that he really doesn't plan on building that big wall or that he really doesn't plan on putting Hillary Clinton in jail. Those who believed he was playing a part to get elected are terrified that he might be the caricature he presented on the campaign trail after all as continues to send out horrifying tweets and brings the world on the brink of a nuclear winter.

snip//

Some panic is starting to set in as Trump voters are beginning to realize they have voted to cut their own social security, Medicare, and even Obamacare. With the top enrollment numbers for Healthcare.gov enrollment this cycle all going to Trump states, Medicare and Medicaid in House Speaker Paul Ryan's crosshairs and Trump's team promising to open back up all the gambling doors for banks that helped cause the Great Recession, there seem to be Trump voters who now see their candidate's promise to take a wrecking ball to the elite of America slipping away.

If Donald Trump is successful in repealing Obamacare tax subsidies in the exchanges, it will result in one of the largest tax increases on the middle class along with leaving tens of millions of Americans - in "red" states - suddenly without health insurance. If Trump and Republicans are successful in dismantling Medicaid - which Obamacare strengthens and reforms - millions of poor white people who Trump successfully conned won't be able to take their sick children to he doctor. If Paul Ryan and Donald Trump are successful in privatizing and dismantling Medicare, the effects would be disastrous across the country, but particularly calamitous on red states. Three in four Medicare recipients are white, and the share is typically above 80% in states Donald Trump won.

snip//

Trump voters - if they are to be believed themselves - voted for the most unqualified candidate for president in history because they somehow believed that a man who literally lives in a golden tower and sits for his interviews on gold chairs gives a hoot about the middle class. They voted to - at the very least - ignore his abhorrent racism, sexism, xenophobia and every other form of bigotry because they bought the idea that a man who has made a carrier swindling unsuspecting people of modest means out of their money was somehow authenticity personified on the campaign trail. They were so disgusted at the New York elite that they willingly voted in one of them president.

innately stupid with border IQ's. I know that sounds arrogant, but FFS, eventually we have to really realize what we are dealing with. They will consume the nation and take it under. There need to be tremendous outreach programs to them. SHIT like Alex Jones and that ilk need to be banned, but with this dreadful administration sh** isn't going to happen. I feel we are sinking.

uninformed voters. Guess they didn't do any due diligence in vetting who they were voting for. They simply voted for his anti immigrant, anti black/brown, anti women, anti-muslim BS of making America white again. GAH

They were /are fervently backing and reveling in racist Sh!t! I hate this keeps being brushed over or denied.
Most of them are racists and thought they would benefit while people of color and others they hate would suffer. And not all of them are stupid. They were caught up in they're racist cult with trump at the center.
And there are people of all walks of life and all levels of income too that support trump.

We all saw and heard the hate at the rallies and the racism and hate from his supporters mouths.

Racism and hate are huge factors in this.

that Cheney and his puppet Bush left the entire country in shambles. Obama was elected in the aftermath, inherited an illegal war and a decimated economy. Dems also had both houses. I felt at the time that the country had "learned its lesson".

Now 8 years later, everything is better than it was, not great, but better........... and here we are again saying the country needs to "learn its lesson" by watching Trump voters lives be ruined.

But what i've learned from the last 8 years is... no lesson will ever be learned. how can we only be 8 years removed from Bush, and the keys to the entire country have been handed to Trump?????????

they will never learn, no matter how many times they come running to the Democrats to fix a GOP mess, they will never learn.

That's what you get for watching Fox "News", many who do wind up metaphorically cutting their own throat.

They continually get suckered into carrying water for Exxon Mobil, the Kochs, Murdoch, and other million/billionaires. Oh, and in 2000 making it close enough for the PNAC crowd to steal the election....which is costing us trillions, lives, and led directly to ISIS. And forfeiting what high moral ground we had left after dropping atom bombs on 2 cities in 1945.

I don't see a good way out of where we are headed. I hope fervently that if we still have a democracy in 2018 people will show up for the midterm election.
