RNC Press Release says it is time to celebrate a NEW King.

“Merry Christmas to all! Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King.
We hope Americans celebrating Christmas today will enjoy a day of festivities and a renewed closeness with family and friends."

Anyone hearing that the same way I do????

We just have to continue to oppose them, no matter the cost. They are going to overreach and shoot themselves in the foot. If we play our cards right, the upcoming disaster will inevitably produce a progressive wave in politics.

making the best assumptions, because they knew damn well that they meant that they were celebrating their new Donald but they veiled it as a reference to "the baby Jesus." They didn't expect people would call them on it.

. . . remind Priebus of what happened in France a few years ago. The "royalty" claimed that they ruled because they had "blue blood."

So, the French people wheeled out the guillotine and checked to see if they really did have "blue blood."

10. Pooly written but he is NOT equating Trump to Christ or Kingship

Christians frequently use the Present Continuous Perfect tense to indicate that an action that happened in the past (at the time of Christ) continues to happen in the present.

For that reason its not Christ rose, Christ has risen but "Christ is risen". In that sense Priebus is intending to say that "Wise men sought the Christ and are still searching for the Christ".

Beyond the unnecessary confusion about who he was referring to as the "King" is the completely inappropriate linking of a political party to personal religious affiliation as if the RNC is an extension of the community of believes.

On top of that is the superficial understanding of the verse in the first place. The Greek tem is "Magi" and was not a term of respect among the Jews as they represented the "Magicians" of the pagan religions who didn't even (in the eyes of the first century Jews) know of YHWH, His promises and His law. The point of the verse is that the power of the anointed one was so powerful that it would eventually extend to the simple but uneducated sheep herders on the one hand and even the sophistry of the elite intellectuals of the pagan intelligentsia who remained unsatisfied with the cosmology of their limited local gods and would be washed with the awe of the Christ once Jesus full Ministry was completed.

It is written in a way that should make any Christian over the age of 14 embarrassed by its superficiality and its attempt to make a theocratic link to a political party.

and the kind explanations are never provided by the opposition. They just run with it. Turnabout is fair play. He worded in a way that can be questioned, he ought not to get benefit of doubt. They wouldn't give it to our party chairman.

The first one is just a poorly worded reference to Jesus. Well, poorly worded to a normal person, but an effective signal of tribal affiliation to RWNJs.

The second paragraph refers to those less fortunate. But to the GOP, the "less fortunate" are apparently those who feel hopeless and other sad people. And the solution (as usual for conservatives) isn't actually doing anything, but prayer. Prayer is nice and all, but a pair of clean socks or even just a quick conversation would go a hell of a lot farther.

The third paragraph -- one third of the press release -- calls on us all to think of the soldiers overseas. It's just a painfully transparent, completely shameless, piece of patriotic pandering. Also, this is a holiday about Jesus. Jesus, though, was not a super big fan of the military. He did, however, call on people to take care of the prisoners that the GOP enjoy locking up so much.

Religious bans
Mass deportations, splitting up families
Tax cuts for the wealthy, corporations
Reduced Healthcare and SS for all
Increase nuke spending
sexual assault
Stifling employees, contractors
NOT rendering to Caesar the things that are Caesars (tax cheat).

Regardless of what they meant, the RNC has some brass balls bringing up Jesus when their new leader is an anti-christ in countless ways.
