Progressive causes see 'unprecedented' upswing in donations after US election

One man wrote a check for $10,000 to an organization that helps women get elected to office, saying he was “embarrassed” that Donald Trump won the presidential election.

Someone else walked into the office of an organization advocating for immigrant rights and handed over a bag of cash he had just collected from members of his local community civics group.

From smaller local organizations to household names such as Planned Parenthood and the ACLU, nonprofit organizations across the US reported fundraising tallies many magnitudes higher than in previous years as they approached their end-of-year donation drives.

i checked my bank account and the with the help of a friend made a powerpoint for my kids and grandkids telling them what they got for Christmas: to save the environment, protect women's reproductive rights, uphold the 1st amendment, etc, etc.

i've never donated so much nor felt the need to donate so much. like maybe i'll save democracy all by myself or something.

Aleppo is haunting me. my former doctor is from there and he gave me his cell number when he gave up his practice to become a hospitalist, but i lost it. I just try to be sure that the organizations i give to are reputable and really doing good work, and with Aleppo that is hard to ascertain.

at any rate i'm fairly tapped out until the end of January so it'll have to wait.
