I knew beyond a doubt what was happening.

I was headed to my sisters this afternoon. I was on a lonely stretch of road when a big ass pick up truck twice the size of my car started tailgating me. They were so close I could not see the front of the truck. I finally caught a glimpse of their plate, it had a confederate flag on it. I still have my Hillary sticker on my rear window. I locked my doors as I knew there was a stop sign a mile ahead. When I pulled out of the stop he tore out and was on my bumper again. This went on for three miles until I took a left.

It was a trump bully boy trying to intimidate. It made me feel ill.

Please everyone be careful. Be vigilant. It is dangerous out there. FYI, I am in a blue state.

at least where I live, and many places I have driven. If you drive the speed limit, someone's going to tailgate you in way that could be perceived as menacing, and is most certainly dangerous.

You're probably right that a Hillary sticker would rile someone like that up, but the tailgaiting might have happened anyway. Happens to me every single time I drive, just b/c I don't speed.

The next time this or anything close to this happens, note your location (road you are on, cross-streets, direction of travel) pick up your cell phone, dial 911 and report "Man with a gun, tailgating me, threatening me!!!" Tell them where you are and direction of travel.

Doesn't matter if he has a gun or not . . . "man with a gun threatening me" will bring every cop within ten miles. Explain that you thought you saw a gun in his hands. Tell the cops what he was doing . . . lay it on thick . . . sob, shake, cry . . .cops will search his vehicle, if they find a gun . . .

Do not put up with this shit.

If you remind them of their mother, or their grandmother they will go out of their way to protect you. Of course, they also think you're demented although harmless. Most times this can rankle if you're as independent and cognizant as I am, but it has it's up side at times.

In my experience every age I've been has an up side. I don't know why anyone minds getting older. It's a friggin adventure! And not for the weaklings!

33. Numbers People...
Mon Dec 26, 2016, 09:12 PM
Dec 2016

...inside both campaigns knew what was coming as early as June. Hillary wasn't polling well in Iowa and doing very poorly in Ohio which was a problem because everyone knows Ohio has called the victor since 1964. There were other candidates but each one said "it's her turn" because none of them felt they could match the Clintons' ability to raise money. That was true...and then she blew more than a billion dollars on a race which not only resulted in her loss but also a fair bit of blow back down ballot. Portman crushed Strickland in Ohio. Toomey wasn't supposed to win again but did. Rubio would have won anyway. It's Florida.

The party needs serious, gut wrenching change. Nancy says no (important since she's connected to all the Pacific Heights moneybags in San Francisco) so the losses will likely continue. The next promising year for the Dems is 2022. We'll have new census numbers by then.

Live a little. Drink wine and eat something very unhealthy but equally satisfying. How about fettucine alfredo?

Mon Dec 26, 2016, 11:22 PM
Dec 2016

My friend, a contractor had a job in a rural NH town that was sort of a resort town served by locals who had good jobs and so you would think would be pretty happy. He was surprised to see so may many Trump signs. We don't see Trump signs where we live, not so far away.

He still had a Bernie sticker on his pickup truck, pulled up to a gas station there and was followed in by a Harley Davidson guy who did not need gas. He just wanted to pull up close, rev his engine multiple times, yell "Bernie!", laugh his head off and then drive away, believing I guess that that was really smart and intimidating. My friend who also has a motorcycle kept it in perspective and realized that guy was just one of those losers who don't know any other way to feel big and tough but to be loud and stupid and then run away from any conversation.

I am, we are, empathetic people. We voted Bernie, then Hillary. The Bernie sticker, still on the truck, is a little tattered by the NE weather but still there. The people who won't ever "get it" no matter what are not going to win in the long run. We are much braver and smarter. We have good reasons, the right reasons for the things we pursue. Many are just plain dumb, I am sorry to say. I wish I could speak better of them. We have to hope there are more of us thinkers and somehow can sway those who just need help to understand or that we can at least outnumber them.

This is a great place to share ideas. Thank you all.

do dash cams help with these kinds of incidents? Like the person who told the story of the dude masturbating as she passed him... if that was ever caught on dashcam and you turned it in to the police, something would HAVE to be done about it right? I want one of these in my car for this very reason.

I was on a roadtrip to Texas with my dad about 5 years ago and when we passed through Arkansas we had a guy tailgating us for miles. Not sure why, but it might have been the Canadian plates. And when I slowed down, he slowed down... didn't matter if I dropped to 30. He finally went around and cut me off and started driving slow, so I flicked on the highbeams (it was night). My dad was getting worried that he might have had a gun, so we pulled off at the next off ramp to get away from him. There are some truly terrifying, unpredictable people on the road...

Had an incident Friday morning -- was traveling my usual route to work & needed to make a left turn. In the lane ahead of me was a panel truck followed by a ginormous red pick up truck. Getting close to the intersection, so I move into the left turn lane -- the panel truck (and red pickup) starts to slow -- the light at the intersection had just turned red -- so I'm actually gaining on them a bit as the lane in front of me was clear. I'm nearly even with the pickup's bumper when he suddenly jerks into the turn lane, cutting me off. I had to hit my brakes to keep from rear ending him -- I was that close to him when he cut in front of me -- and, yes, I honked.

He proceeds to slam on his brakes and stopped his truck in the turn lane -- we were about 10 - 15 feet from the intersection at this point -- gets out of his truck and started walking toward my car. I rolled my window down and said "What do you think you're doing? I suggest you get back into your truck. I'm dialing 911." (had my mean face / voice on when I said it) He stopped in his tracks -- looked at me all confused-like (I don't think he was expecting a middle-aged woman to stand up to him), and got back in his truck. He then made a left onto the same street I was headed for and proceeded to drive -- literally -- 5 miles per hour the entire way (it's about a mile to the next cross street -- took aabout 10 minutes to get there). I just turned up my radio, rolled down my window & sang / car danced the whole way, occasionally giving him a thumb's up in his rear view.

My kids were so mad at me -- concerned about my safety -- when I told them the story, but dammit, I refuse to be intimidated by -- or live in fear of -- these asshats.
