My first time back at DU after the DU hack. Nothing has been the same since.

I happened to be on DU when it was hacked. It didn't seem to me to be a Trump troll it seemed more dastardly, bigger more calculated in my opinion. And nothing has been the same since that moment when "God emperor" repeated over and over on my screen.

This is my first time back here after that and my first post. I completely agree with another post here in General Discussion from someone who has avoided news and DU since 11/9. I haven't watched any MSM TV since the "election" was called for Unpotus which was reminiscent of 2004 EVote fiasco.

The national gas lighting by Don the Con and his complicit media has given way to a national nervous breakdown. We're expected to believe that a minority of Americans have created this result in spite of all the facts stacked against him. We're being sold a bill of goods, a lemon, a magic bullet theory only worse the minority president and his cabinet of horrors will get away with every evil plan to destroy the USA because we have no checks and balances, the corrupt GOP has been actively working against America and the majority of American people for at least 15 years or more.

This "election" isn't normal it's UNPRECEDENTED! Trump is a domestic threat. He has already destabilized America. The Electoral College failed to do it's Constitutional duty. The press conference the POTUS gave didn't give any indication that Trump will be stopped from usurping power, actually, the press conference seemed to normalize this sham of an "election" and failed to mention Trump is completely unqualified and unfit, not to mention mentally unstable. That press conference scolded the press but made me feel worse and I've been a supporter of President Obama since he was campaigning for his first term.

This "election" is the 3rd questionable one - and I am being generous here - this time Russia interfered, the FBI interfered, there was GOP Voter suppression and Gerrymandering, plus we still have electronic voting with no paper trail, the state governments shut down recount efforts to verify voting, the complicit media that gave Trump 2 billion $ in free airtime, fake news, propaganda...all of it points to a sham.

And here we are. Don the Con is getting away with it. The GOP has finally destroyed America. Our Republican controlled government is not to be trusted to stop this madness. We are terrorized by our own system. And those of us who understand this reality lack the power to stop this hostile takeover, this political coup.

Nothing is okay! America is not okay! The majority of Americans are not okay! This is not a matter of politics as usual or my candidate lost, this is way worse than GWB and Darth Cheney. Trump is a domestic threat. The GOP are enemies of the state. This is not business as usual.

we resist, we don't normalize, we vocalize our opposition but the ability to stop tRump lies with government officials in the executive, and legislative branches because they have the power and the obligation to do so. Possibly the judicial branch if a lawsuit were filed with the SCOTUS although this route seems slower and less certain imho.

I'd really like to know how average Americans are supposed to stop tRump? What does that look like exactly?

to find words. Normally, I'm very articulate but this "shock" has had such an impact that there really aren't words. I have described the experience of 11/9 like being beaten, kicked repeatedly in the gut, badly beaten and then there's a knock at the door and it's the authorities coming to notify me of the unexpected, sudden death of a loved one, in this case, the loved one is my country, America, and all that I knew and loved about America. Then to add insult to injury, nobody will investigate the murder.

I'm probably older than 99% of DU readers, and this is the worst in my lifetime of election results. I just don't know what it going to happen to this poor country. It may not be fixed in my life span.

Thanks to all of you who speak your mind; it makes me feel better to know how many feel like I do. I have become distrustful of people I don't know - and that is is new to me. I have always leaned toward believing the best of people - but now I wonder if everyone I come across is part of the 90% in this county who voted for this despicable piece of humanity into office of our already GREAT country.

Before President Obama's first inauguration it was the biggest protest/march/gathering in American history. And most people never even knew it happened.

And I agree with you wholeheartedly that Obama's press conference was just unbelievable. And now, hearing him say that he could have won a third term? I feel gobsmacked about it all.

And why was there not a Democratic Party based recount- a real recount of those states that Jill Stein tried to get recounts in?

I knew this summer by the way that the weeds were growing on my farm that T would win. And I see this as the end of the USA. I kept hoping that I would be wrong about the election....but am not. And now I keep hoping that I will be wrong about the dissolution of the USA.

This is quite bad, but (so far) there have been worse times in our history that we have recovered from. The Civil War and the Great Depression were very bad and still we recovered. This could be one of those times, a time of instability and fear, but we can survive. I say this not to minimize the evil we face, but to instill hope. We must resist, and if we do, we will survive.

Rewrite the Constitution? Here's how a convention could do it

By Tom LoBianco, CNN
Updated 1:47 PM ET, Fri November 25, 2016

http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/22/politics/constitutional-convention-explainer/

snip...

Washington (CNN)The increasing dominance of Republicans inside statehouses across the nation has spurred talk that a constitutional convention -- the very meeting that crafted the US Constitution -- could be more than just a Hail Mary thrown to conservatives.

Conservative groups and Republican lawmakers have been planning for the possibility for years, although it picked up steam three years ago after a group of state lawmakers met at George Washington's Mount Vernon estate, just outside Washington.
Most recently, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush voiced support for the idea in an op-ed published Thursday in how he would advise his party to proceed following Donald Trump's victory.

"Republicans should support convening a constitutional convention to pass term limits, a balanced-budget amendment and restraints on the Commerce Clause, which has given the federal government far more regulatory power than the Founders intended," Bush wrote.

At least from this middle-aged lifelong civilian's point of view. I was thinking something along the lines of: Trump orders the military to do something that crosses the line, and at that point they refuse to take further orders from him. It would be good to hear from those with a military background about this.

I also was knocked off DU by the hack and have just returned. I have never been an 'activist' and keep my politics mostly to myself. This situation, however, is different and I feel forced to stop being a
'lurker' and start to get engaged in ways that I am comfortable with.

One way that appeals to me is wearing the 'safety pin' and being prepared to step up when harassment is going on. (Note: I saw an excellent primer on the 4 'D's of harassment intervention and recommend seeing it.) Also, turning the sleaze mag's at the check out counters back-to-front.

Another form of activism that I am intending to do is to visit my House Representatives office on a periodic basis to register my personal support or opposition on specific issues personally.

This election IS unprecedented so I am going to have to get activated in what, for me, is also unprecedented way.
