(7,858 posts)...before he caught himself and realized even that was a bridge too far for a """patriotic Republican""" like himself (lol).
And he basically said that we can't do anything about another country interfering in our elections because we interfere in other country's elections (???). Not very #MAGA -- and this coming from someone on the Foreign Affairs Committee, I believe.

Scuitto said Yohos was an odd point to make for an American.
It seems youre making a point that Vladimir Putin, frankly, has made, Scuitto said. You seem to be equating U.S. political action abroad with Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election, are you putting those on equal footing?
Yoho replied that of course he wasnt equating U.S political action abroad with Russian interference, before arguing the United States also needs to be held responsible for foreign meddling.
Scuitto pushed back: Is it your job as a member of the house foreign affairs committee to hold foreign nationsparticularly adversariesaccountable for interference in our election? Or is it to hold America accountable for operations abroad?

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)Because right now, they seem pretty la-de-dah about Russian incursions into our country. I remember when Republicans would ruin people's careers and lives if they thought someone was getting too cozy with the Russians. Now they all sound like they have posters of that dreamy Vladimir Putin on their bedroom wall.

(574 posts)Russia and Putin didn't just interfere in the presidential election, they also interfered in statewide elections to help republicans win. Russia has thoroughly infiltrated the US government, and it was accomplished with the aid support of the republican party.

I remember that one, too. Republicans are deplorable hypocrites - they'd have dismissed it had we gained those Olympics, praised it had it been a Repuke, or dismissed as irrelevant if Repuke did not get them. Hypocrisy at all times is their byword.
