The GOP loves her $$$, but there are plenty of other people for the position to chip away at Public Education. There is too much money at stake in privatization to let an incompetent donor mess it up. She will get an ambassadorship she should have gotten in the first place.

I believe Drumpf won it by forty seven points.

He did say that he was voting against her because of WV public schools. Props for that. And it is better to keep him in the democratic column than not. I was relieved that he cited Robert Byrd in his comments. I hope Byrd continues to whisper in his ear.

I am in next-door Pennsyltucky, so I know who his constituency is.

I don't really mind him given where he comes from. He often though not always votes with us. Without him West Virginia is an easy Republican pick up.

But I will admit that was because I was ignorant or more accurately consciously ignorant of his predicament. He is in a tough spot.

I understand he is from W Va, but there also are times when he and other conservative Dems like Heitkamp, Tester and McCaskill are a big thorn in our side. Like on major things like the pipelines Trump wants. It's those few times on big things that can hurt. I'd rather they go home and try to defend their votes. It's not like no minds can ever be changed.

I suspect that he already has to do a lot of defending of his votes to his constituents. Like the position he took in favor of sensible gun safety laws. Maybe he can do more and survive, but then again maybe not. I don't think any other Democrat can win that Senate seat in the foreseeable future. I don't think the same holds true in Indiana though, for example. McCaskill doesn't have an easy ride, but her ice is not as thin in Indiana as it is in West Virginia.

Both have said that they just can't vote for her. This may delay Sessions confirmation as they need his vote to get to 50/50 and then Pence will break the tie, and if they confirm Sessions too soon, he won't be able to vote on DeVoss.

If he indeed does vote no it will only be to protect his Dem creds. If however she needed his vote to be confirmed he couldn't deliver it fast enough. He is a repub in his black heart.
