http://www.gallup.com/poll/201617/gallup-daily-trump-job-approval.aspxPoll numbers as of yesterday -- 52% disapprove, 43% approve.
Trump had started a little over a week ago with 45%/45%. After a week it was 50/42.

His approval rating went up 1 point since then, but his disapproval rating went up 2 points.

Why don't they do a world view consensus?

(167 posts)Gallup is notoriously bad at this sort of (republican-skewed) polling, in reality I'm sure these numbers are even worse.

(16,925 posts)What did the polls do for us in November?
Polls are one thing - ACTION by "our side" - the party - the leaders - the supporters, is another - and we MUST take action!

(50,935 posts)and can it really be possible that I hate 42% of Americans?

(3,194 posts)I would not expect his approval to drop too much, because there will ALWAYS be a certain percentage that will approve of him. Remember in the waning days of the disaster that was the Shrub presidency, he still had #'s in the low 30's?
1/3rd of the U.S. will always stand by their party's candidate, regardless of what they do. If Hitler came back as a Republican, he would still get 30% of the vote, even if his platform was killing all the Jews.

(8,964 posts)Since 45 now makes 43 look like a Rushmore candidate by comparison, who knows? Fully a third of Trump votes saw him negatively at the time of the election, but opted for "change" (falling somewhere between chaos and catastrophe, change indeed). There is quite a bit of thin ice in Trump's positives.
SoCalMusicLover
(3,194 posts)If 1/3rd of the 48% who voted for him, viewed him negatively, that's 16%, subtracted from 48%, equals the 32% who will view him positively no matter what. This is their base. These are the folks who will support him, even if he starts dropping bombs on random countries.

(37 posts)has held true for a long time. Even when Bill Clinton had high approval ratings, there was that 30-35% who couldn't stand the guy. It's those same people who will always like Trump, no matter who he bombs, imprisons, tortures, deports, fires, appoints.......etc...

(5,275 posts)After all that has already gone on 43% are OK with it? If true that is more than alarming.

(56,828 posts)so, unless it was a huge event like a terror attack or the media breathlessly reporting that the FBI is re-opening the Clinton email investigation, it will take time...
Even though most people knew the Iraq War was a disaster by early 2004 at the latest, Bush's approval ratings didn't fall below 50% until after the 2004 elections and then didn't really tank until after Katrina in 2005.

(10,125 posts)The numbers are probably more like 90% disapproval. Just like the jobs numbers.

(6,699 posts)Listened to NPR a few minutes ago. Interviewing Pennsylvania dRumpf supporters. They are thrilled. He is doing exactly as they wanted when they voted for him. Drag this once proud country down the shitter...and they are cheering all the way down. Dumb fuckers.

(15,273 posts)Happened to be out food shopping today and supporting a locally owned grocer. As I was leaving I overheard one of the mgt staff talking to a delivery guy. He said that Trump was doing what he said he would. She responded that she always admits she voted for him, but that keeping a doc who works at the Cleveland Clinic didn't seem right. She was obviously afraid of "bad people", but maybe the EO was a bit of bridge too far for her.
