REI CEO Jerry Stritzke: 'We are an organization, and a country, built on inclusion'

REI CEO Jerry Stritzke has joined the many Pacific Northwest officials and business leaders denouncing President Donald Trump’s executive order blocking immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the U.S.

In an email to the outdoor co-op's employees Monday, Stritzke explained his concern with what has come in the president's first few days in office, specifically the immigration restriction.

"We know our employee base and our membership span the political spectrum on any given issue. And we embrace respectful dialogue and debate," he said. "But it’s important for me to be incredibly clear about the following—we are an organization, and a country, built on inclusion."

Trump’s order, issued Friday, restricts entry into the U.S. for all refugees for 120 days and bars Syrian refugees indefinitely. He also puts a 90-day freeze on admission and re-entry for citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
