Hes mentally ill: Internet aghast after Trump brags about Apprentice ratings at Prayer BreakfastBRAD REED
02 FEB 2017 AT 10:09 ET
President Donald Trump gave a talk at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning, where he bragged about the ratings he used to get on The Apprentice, while also mocking current Apprentice host Arnold Schwarzenegger for getting lower ratings than he did.
The hired a big, big movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to take my place, and we know how that turned out, Trump said of The Apprentice. The ratings went right down the tubes, its been a total disaster and I want to just pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings.
Using the National Prayer Breakfast to rekindle a feud over Apprentice ratings generated instant shock and ridicule on the internet, similar to the reaction that occurred on Wednesday when Trump paid tribute to Black History Month by talking about how badly he had been treated by CNN.
Some of the best reactions from around the web follow below.

Trump is mocking Arnold for his Apprentice ratings at the National Prayer Breakfast. Next he'll bash Jesus for only having 12 followers.

(531 posts)This is strategy...the story from the Prayer Breakfast is repealing the gag law against preachers preaching politics. This is the one that should have the internet screaming. But Bannon knows the internet, having risen from the primordial slime of it, and it is clear to me as it was from almost the first day is there will be an internet-ready story to take headlines from every disastrous policy that he is going to try to implement.

(348 posts)You are absolutely right. Bannon has a"shock bomb" waiting for each of their policy prescriptions. What's amazing is how many people claim to know this and still fall for the dog whistle EVERY time. Ugh...

(11,243 posts)We knew it would happen, just not this fast. He cannot tolerate criticism at all and suddenly he is under a microscope, doing the job that is guaranteed to produce more criticism than any on the planet. Plus he is not used to working hard. And he is too old, I guess. Yesterday he snapped out at the AU PM because it was late in the day. Guess he missed his nap.
Question is, when will the GOP make this stop? They care more about their appointments and personal careers than they do about the safety of the USA. Bunch of sad losers.

(81,198 posts)Your own reps (three of 'em - 2 Senators, 1 Congressmember), AND maybe one or two others. PARTICULARLY if you've donated to their campaigns in the past. My Heidi Heitkamp experience here - she's North Dakota. I'm a Californian. But by Jove I donated to her campaign and nobody on her end made ANY attempt to turn my California money away.

The Indivisible Guide recommends focusing on your own people. Yes. That's FIRST. Particularly if you're "represented" by someone from the GOP. That's FIRST.
Proof that it works, in Elle magazine, of all places! With none other than Heidi Heitkamp of all people!

But I submit it helps to spread the message a wee bit farther, if you can, and if you have the time. ESPECIALLY if some Dem in another state has enjoyed your financial largesse when their campaigns came begging in your inbox for donations.

HE is only the most important person to his own business and family if he wants to be the most important person then he should leave his current job and go back to that maybe he can then also return to the apprentice and see then how the ratings go

And where he shits is - anywhere and anytime he feels like it. Because there'll be somebody "more responsible" to come along and clean up the mess, and change his widdle diaper.
Now there's some arrested development

(9,350 posts)First, Arnold Schwarzenegger cannot trade places with Donald Trump because Schwarzenegger was not born in America and the U.S. Constitution says that a person has to be born in the United States in order to become President. Second, from what I have heard, Schwarzenegger did not do a good job when he was Governor of California. So, Schwarzenegger would only be a mild improvement over Donald Trump.

(5,810 posts)Because this is exactly what he sold to them. A brash, ugly person who never misses an opportunity to tell everyone how great he is. BIGLY. Oh and how unfairly he is treated by ______fill in the blank. It is his whole act. Brag, complain, denigrate someone else, brag some more. Give a fake smile. Or is that a smirk?
I am way beyond tired of this, as many others are feeling. And I am frightened, as he destroys the reputation of the United States every moment he is awake, which apparently is 22 hours a day. No wonder he is so grouchy.

(1,273 posts)He's just making what every autocrat is doing:
1. Making truth unbelievable. There are so many "news" -fake and real- that noone can say what is true or fake. That is a propaganda shtick to make people insecure.
2. Making everyone afraid, very afraid. So the majority will stand with the strongman, even if they know the emperor is naked - he has the power, after all.
3. Once installed in power, the autocrat has every support, because noone will admit that he/she got it wrong or that he/she would prefer to be an opponent of the strongman.
Maybe, it's not Trump himself, but Bannon. There you have Hitler and Goebbels. I'm so afraid, I don't know what to do.

(9,350 posts)The ratings for The Apprentice have been in a steady freefall for years. I assume some of the people working on the show would say the format change has had more to do with the decrease in ratings than the host change.

(5,611 posts)Every single day it gets worse. Seriously, we have hit the lowest low that I can think of as far as our modern political history is concerned (not even Watergate).
Now we have the humiliating disaster in Syria -- in which one of our superb Navy Seals, a man with an adoring family and who was by all accounts a great man, was killed in addition to a number of Syrian civilians. Then, when Trump and his idiot staff are questioned about this "successful" raid, we learn that JAREDhis son-in-law and BANNON were present -- literally at the table-- when this disaster was devised.
And now Trump is "easing" the sanctions on Russia while creating an international incident with the Australiam PM. Literally it gets worse every single day. Sometimes I seriously wonder if Trump & co, especially Bannon, are trying to instigate some type of international incident (like a strike or bomb in one of our cities) to proceed with the rest of their monstrous plans.
