(82,849 posts)You have about 10 months to identify a credible primary opponent for these two and get those people to run against them.

(1,208 posts)His state is deep red and he is likely to lose his election anyway.

(9,033 posts)Trump outflanked Hillary to the left on jobs and trade. Of course, he was lying. We knew that all the time but at least some of them didn't; maybe in 2 years they will realize it and an actual populist progressive (newcomer needless to say) will have a chance.

(9,033 posts)about him already floating that idea? Good luck to him if he does--he'd never be trusted and would probably lose in a primary anyway.

(1,208 posts)I live in Western PA and attended WVU for my master's, worked in Southern PA for 9 years. They are not educated and are extremely racist. They love their guns more than they love each other. 8 years of a black president with the NRA stoking fears of losing their guns and an aging population, is what make them a "RED" state
truebluegreen
(9,033 posts)But it was a factor, and after he fails to bring the jobs back--and without a black president in the picture--they may swing the other way.
If they are paying attention at all (big if, I know) they have to see that the swamp-draining / anti- Wall St / for the little guy BS was just that. Especially with no new jobs and even harder times. I guess we'll see--if he doesn't stroke out from an excess of aggrieved petulance.

(7,587 posts)If they do confirm Sessions first, then Sessions can not vote to confirm DeVos and she does not get sec of education.
Of course, in the case of Manchin , I am not sure if he is calculating that or just simply wanting to vote for Trump nominees because he is closer to be a republican than a democrat.

(2,897 posts)But given the amount of WV Dems that voted for Trump and Manchin multiple times, I doubt this will affect Machin's chances if he is primaried.
Donnelly is a different matter though. That being said, I doubt the attack ads that are going to hurt them the most in the general are going to be about their yes votes on Trump nominees.
