Republicans Are About To Erase One Of Obamas Major Workplace Protections

On Thursday, House Republicans moved to gut one of Obama’s signature labor reforms, a rule that would forbid contractors with a history of workplace violations from receiving new contracts. Lawmakers passed what’s known as a resolution of disapproval against the rule, with a party-line vote tally of 236 to 187.

The GOP-controlled Senate is expected to pass the measure as well, since Democrats can’t filibuster a resolution of disapproval. If that happens, the Labor Department will be forbidden from moving forward with Obama’s executive order, which is known as the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces rule.

Republicans used the same method this week to kill what’s known as the stream protection rule. That rule restricted coal companies from dumping mine refuse into waterways and required them to restore streams they’d damaged.

Labor groups and workplace watchdogs strongly encouraged the Obama administration to implement the labor rule, saying it would discourage wage theft and safety hazards among any firms that seek federal contracts. Business groups lobbied hard against it and dubbed it the “blacklisting” rule, since it punished companies with a record of labor violations.

I honestly believe they know a weakness of liberals is that we think they are all stupid liars so they flood the interet with a bunch of stupidity and lies (bowling green massacre) and we swarm on that while these disastrous policies are being implemented. Bread and circuses for all.

(and it is all about just them now) have a history of work place violations. Otherwise what is the point of getting rid of an order titled "Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces".
It's not America First, it's Some Americans First.

4. Let me get this straight. A company has a history of wage theft and safety violations.

And you want to continue to reward them and allow them to get federal contracts, so they can still make money while cutting costs by cheating and putting their workforce at risk.

Other companies that honor their contracts, follow the law, and play by the rules will lose out against these companies that are in violation.
Blacklisting is when a company or person is barred due to prejudice or through an "unwritten" arbitrary rule. It's not when a company or person is legally in violation of an agreed upon regulation that is applied to everyone else.

How is this "blacklisting", when these violators are not allowed to bid on new federal contractors unless they pay their time and can show proof that they're not cheating the public and their workers?

6. publicize that erasing his protection allows the contractors to use illegal immigrants

because using illegal immigrants would be a workplace violate for a government contract?

Not sure if its fact or alternate fact but doesn't matter anymore.
