U.P. Republican cites 'another Kent State' as solution to protestersBy Benjamin Raven | braven@mlive.com February 03, 2017 at 2:06 PM, updated February 03, 2017 at 2:07 PM
Dan Adamini, Secretary of the Marquette County Republican Party, made a duo of controversial remarks on his Facebook and Twitter accounts Thursday, Feb. 2.
The tweet and Facebook post have since been deleted, but the Michigan Democratic Party shared a screenshot of each in a news release:

(6,409 posts)This guy obviously does not appreciate the fallout of the Kent State shootings. Four people died, not one person, as he seems to think. And it helped turn public opinion against the war. I wonder if he knows it was an anti-war demonstration?

(29,692 posts)and it started massive protests all over the country. I know it galvanized me and many others. It was really a wake up call that our "parents" would stoop to killing us because we disagreed.

(4,292 posts)I can't remember exact details. This one gets overlooked a lot, but it was just as horrible.

(2,120 posts)... Trump fans are frantically insisting ALL protesters are bad. ALL protesters are violent. ALL protesters are criminals.
It's only a matter of time before they're screaming for the military to mow down peaceful protesters since "they're obviously terrorist insurgents!"
Times like this I'm fucking glad I'm a left winger with guns, folks. For self-defense only (or the defense of other innocents). Not all the guns are in the hands of hateful delusional right-wing psychotics.
That's all I'm saying.

(2,120 posts)... not because I'm planning for shootouts in the streets. Not because I would ever use my guns to go on the offense (other than to defend a potential victim). But because if I need it, it'll be there, along with my pistols.
But I tell you this, it wouldn't surprise me if the ironic outcome of all of the NRA screaming about the government coming to take away guns winds up with Trump taking guns away from registered DEMOCRATIC voters who could be deemed "potential enemies of the state." Seems far-fetched? Not after the past 2 weeks. And you know and I know the NRA and their ilk wouldn't breathe a single... fucking... word of protest.
Which is why I'm very glad I've been registered as an Independent since 2004.

(28,270 posts)I think it goes...
From my cold dead hands, Adolf!
A few fascists will go with me.
My dad and uncles were all in WW2 so if that happens I guess it will be my turn to cleanse the earth of nazis.
Its a family tradition!

(4,292 posts)It seems to me that the protests at both of these colleges were peaceful. Am I remembering wrong? And I think I remember that one person killed was not even at the protests, but was a young father, a block away, on his way home from work to be with his wife and his one-month old baby.

(7,963 posts)Is adding fuel to the fire. You can't threaten and strong arm your opponent. These idiots have no idea the backlash they will get. It will be a civil war.
