Some social media repugs want a boycott because of their new ad.
For some reason Im thinking of that old "The Simpsons" episode where everything
gets banned on the immigrants and Mayor Quimby passings a bill to depot all
immigrants.

(3,208 posts)I saw the commercial, it looks like it was historically accurate. The family did immigrate from Germany and built what became a pretty large business.
How can they be offended by actual history?
(I am from St. Louis and have German ancestry on my dad's side, they probably got here around the same time as the Anhauser and Busch families. Unfortunately they did not do quite as good!)

The idea of the ad was to act like Bud is an American company. It is not. Just like they renamed the beer "America" last year. They are just tin-eared corporate stooges.

(11,730 posts)That is how they think, and that is how their leaders play the game. I have family members who call everything except Fox News and outlets like Breitbart, "the liberal media". They do that because that is what Fox and those other outlets have said. Because those people are exposed primarily to only those outlets, they see anything that doesn't conform to that view point as the opposite, which is "liberal".
Remember that study done on the viewing habits of conservative and liberal viewers that showed by Fox exceeded most other cable networks. It showed that a large portion of conservative viewers, like 70% got their news from Fox, whereas liberal viewers were split between 6 or 7 media outlets. Liberals seek out a variety of sources for information. Conservatives stick primarily with the one that supports their point of view and everything else is labeled "other".
